Honestly, don't be sucked in by the Touch's sleek new looks. It is just a gimmick. If you are a true music lover the only option to go for is the 160gb classic. The battery life is phenomenal as well. I've had mine for a couple of weeks now and I have to say it is the best gadget I have ever bought.

I think if you are a true music fan get the classic 80gb or 160gb. If you are wanting an mp3 as a fashion accessory - which is stupid - then get the touch. My only slight criticism is you don't get the full 160gb. When I switched it on at first it said I had something like 149gb. I can only assume that the operating system software takes up 11gb. So that is misleading but it'll take you ages to fill up 149gb!! Videos are amazing too.

 generally good, but quite slow

like the 80 gig but a little larger, its generally good.the interface is quite slow, youll find yourself waiting for the album artwork to appear , little delays elsewhere which will get worse as you fill it up. using itunes to get audio onto it is ok, it'll do but it has a few annoying ommissions in functionality( especially when importing tv/movies)

and, as with all the other ipod/mp3 players ive had before, the headphones are terrible and never get used.

there are other devices in this price range worth looking at , creative can play divx, and archos are doing some good devices too.

i bought one due to the size of the drive, if you have other priorities for a mp3/movie device, look around before deciding.

 Size Not Wrong

The quoted size of 80 or 160GB is not wrong as the hard disk inside will actually store that amount of data. The missing space is due to the index that tells the iPod where on the disk the file is. This is the same with any MP3 player (even the small ones) but you dont notice it as much because you dont lose so much space.
This is normal and Apple are not trying to mislead people.

Its as good as they say!

Top 100 Mobile Reviewer

I've just reluctantly bought one of these after my old 60gb Toshiba Gigabeat finally gave up the ghost, i was looking round for another player with a large capacity hard drive and the ipod was the only one i could find having not originally been impressed with the ipods in the past but i have to say ive been very surprised as to how good this player actually is! (i know millions of people cant be wrong but its purely a matter of taste, sorry!)
Having plugged it into my usb port it registers about 148gb, you expect to loose a bit of any hard drive space once it has been factory formatted, once you get online and download the latest itunes its a piece of cake to sinc up (itunes does take a fair bit of your pc resources up mind, even with 2gb of ram installed!) and i transferred about 85gb of music in about 4-5hrs, my gigabeat you had to leave on almost all day! Anything thats in wma format itunes automatically converts to mp3 (porobably where it hogs the recources!) As with all ipods searching for tracks is a sinch especially with the new search function. It really is top notch mp3 player.
So having to 'bite the bullet' and buy an ipod, i can say im glad i did! Hope this helps.
