Great little MP3 device, shame about the earphones!

The device itself is very good but there are two things you must do before you start using it in anger: (a) Throw away the bundled earphones as they are next to useless (very uncomfortable to wear/jam into your ear and they have virtually no treble response at all), and (b) reset the device's location to be "Rest Of The World" (as opposed to "Europe") otherwise you'll hardly hear a thing as the device is automatically limited to a paltry 85dB in Europe. With these mods in place, you're good to go. The device has had some minor updates from the early one I bought a few years ago including a very useful microSD card slot, some repositioning of the controls and some new functions. With decent earphones, I'd give it 5*.

Top 100 Gadgets Reviewer

Have only had this a couple of days, but it is head and shoulders over new archos flipper (I can hear the radio clearly, see review)
it also has,
Voice recorder
Radio recorder.
Stop watch has 50 lap split
belt / pocket / sleeve clip
It is also extremely light weight and user friendly

I would recommend this to any one that is looking for a small, light weight, unobtrusive mp3 and / or radio. Perfect for running.

Instructions book could be better

If this does continues to work well, 8 stars easy.

 Good features, poorly executed

Whilst the feature list of this mp3 player are impressive, unfortunately the user interface and connectivity let it down. The colour screen resolution is on a par with the first Nokia phones with colour screens hence the resolution is pretty poor.

Sound quality is great and the radio is clear. There are numerous equalizer presets and you can add your own profile which is a nice feature.

My model had a clip that was hinged slightly off centre, in addition to this the I had issues connecting to the computer. I updated the firmware which was supposed to address some issues, however I regularly had a "refreshing your media" loop which renders the player unusable unless in close proximity to a computer.

The quality and fit of the earphones was disappointing and the cable too long for use in the gym when the player is fitted at waist level, leaving a section of cable dangling which could easily get snagged.

As I primarily bought this player for its clip and radio (which my previous iPod Shuffle lacked), the flaws in the Sandisk were too much to accommodate and I requested a refund.
