Excellent sound quality. The sound reproduction of my 256kbps mp3 files is outstanding. The sound is just as good as the original CDs. The player has a customizable 5 band equalizer which allows you to adjust the tonal quality of the music to your preferences. It also has a music enhancer mode (DSEE)to bring out the best from compressed music files. I left that function at "off" because Im already happy with the sound quality. According to the manual, the player is also compatible with variable bit rate files. The player also has a "Dynamic Normalizer", which automatically adjusts the volume level of each song so that they all play at about the same loudness even when the songs were ripped from different CDs with varying recording volumes. With the Dynamic Normalizer, you wont have to keep adjusting the volume of the player everytime a new song from a different album/artist is playing.

Terrific headphones. Unlike other MP3 players, this player comes with premium headphones. The bass, mids, and highs are all very well balanced resulting in crisp, realistic music. The sound is neither muddy nor tinny---just perfect with all the musics details very clear and vibrant.

Superb build quality and design. The body feels expensive and durable. The slim design is ver elegant, and small/light enough to fit in shirt pocket.

Very intuitive user interface. The user interface is so very well designed, that I was able to use the mp3 player without even touching the manual.

Very easy to load music. I just used Windows Explorer to drag n drop my mp3s from the computer to the player--thats it!

 Another triumph from Sony

I bought this for my girlfriend and naturally tried it out ("made sure it was working"). 2 years ago i bought a sony walkman mp3 and was amazed at quality/simplicity and expected more of the same.

My jaw dropped several times. Firstly it is so lightweight and small (no larger than a small mobile phone) and only 1cm thick! Charged it up (3hrs for 1st complete charge) and listened to sample music - superb qulaity! - great headphones too! Bearing in mind that this is primarily a music player I would have been satisfied right there.

However the photo's are digital camera quality - very sharp. The video (comes with spiderman trailer) is again excellent - again with tremendous sound.

The only cons - too much paper in box - seperates manuals and troubleshoot guides into 5 different languages and still you need to read adobe file on CD for sufficient detail. Doesn't come with sonicstage, which some reveiwers seem to hate but I though worked very well and very easily - does come with windows media 11 though with an easy drag-and-drop method to file transfer. Also no 3 pin charger for when away from computer.

The other snag was I scratched my head wondering why the buttons did not work when plugged into USB - halfway through the instructions it explains this is normal!

In summary a well presented, well priced mp3 player, with the reliablity of Sony brand that plays excellent video and photos to boot! Plus no 'itunes' clogging up windows. Well worth buying.

 Truly Amazing!!!

I can't believe how much quality this product oozes for that price. Everthing from the sound, video and picture playback is outstanding, I can't find one fault with it, not one! You'd expect a product like this; even though it's only 4GB to start from at least £100 and you would be one foolish person to miss out on this bargain!!!
I just watched the trailor for Spiderman 3 (that comes with it) and it astonished me, the video quality was great and the sound is razor sharp.
If you're in two-minds whether to buy this, then just buy it, ipods don't even come close to this and for this price it's even more unbelieveable!

Well done Sony, shame about your consoles though!

 Top draw

What a lovely little thing. Big sound from a little sliver of extronics. Easy to use with the same simple controls of other sony players. But now it's MP3 and Sony supply a converter. Be aware that the converter can play around with some albums particully collections. Supplied ear phones are also great. I read some place that somebody was not happy with the loudness and bass. If that is your problem with this then you need medical help and you are only weeks away from complete deafness.

How do you transfer the music if your using Vista? Instructions and step by step will help alot.

What about if i wanted to use SonicStage? Can i still use it? If so, then how?

Thanks
