the best mp3 i have ever owned

| | See all janerich28's reviews (1)

ive had a small sony cube, then a ipod (which was horrible), then a creative zen vision m (which was great but very big) .... then i had the 8gb version of this and loved it so much that i decided to upgrade to this 16 gb

the mp3 itself is an amazing looking sleek machine, slightly bigger than the ipod nano, but about 5x better quality and about 30/40 quid cheaper ... the wired headphones supplied are amazing but the buetooth ones are even better .... great for in the gym and because of the special material, if you sweat while using them it does not effect them whatsoever

the video quality is near hd standard and thanks to the special memory used the battery life is amazing, i used the 8gb for about 5 hours a day for a week and the battery barely moved

im so glad i decided to get the 16gb so i could get all my music on it

quality quality quality

the best 130 ive ever spent

I have had a number of Mp3/4 players over the last few years including the Creative Zen and an Ipod Touch. First of all the audio quality that comes from this machine is WAY better than from the fore mentioned products. I am no audiophile but after loading the player up with a handful of my fave tunes and hit play my eyebrows went up and a big smile appeared. The warm, rich and dynamic output from this player kicks spots off the competition. I was hearing fine nuances and extensive definition that i simply had not heard on some tracks and these are files I have listened to for YEARS in some cases.
Build quality of the player is second to none, everything is where it needs to be and after showing the guys at work my new purchase everyone was impressed as to how little the player weighed (and some took notes of the model number, (do I get any commission guys? ).
Having both the blue tooth and the superb EX wired headphones just put icing on the cake.
The Bluetooth headphones are very comfortable and I had not realized that they can hold up to 8 profiles of differing devices NOR was I aware that the phones have a MIC so you can also pair it with your mobile phone and use them as a phone headset. :D

After trying the blue tooth headphones I switched to the in ear "EX" wired little beauties that came with the package and was surprised as to the range and depth that they were able to reproduce. I was especially impressed with the low frequency response of the headphones, as playing some of my favorite prodigy had me wondering if I had some how hooked the player to my 5.1 system but quickly realized that there were no floor vibrations being felt with the beat. Again the wired headphones are very comfortable and I could happily wear either pair for many hours at a time.

As others have mentioned there is no need to worry about poor software it can be used as a simple drag n drop device and away you go.

Having originally being a big fan of the apple line of products after listening to the sound quality of Sony's Walkman I will never touch another Ipod again. Sure it doesn't come in a range of colors but for its functionality, ease of use and loooong play time this deserves more recognition than the marketing hype of some other media player manufacturers.

To have made this "the perfect player" I would have liked to have seen an FM radio or some memory expandability, perhaps voice recording but none of those are show stoppers for me.

If you are considering purchasing this I highly recommend the official Sony leather case it protects the player and is a very stylish item and is worth the money compared to some of the questionable designs offered from third party's.

For £99 from Play.com you get a superb package of goodies at a bargain basement price which cannot be beaten and will certainly not disappoint.

 Quality Mp3 Player & such a bargain!

I bought this item recently and wow was i surprised to recieve both corded headphones and blue-tooth wireless headphones too, My friend purchases this item elsewhere and paid £180 and that was without blue-tooth headphones so this really is a bargain!

Sound is real quality on this player and so easy to use just drag and drop music, video files, this item is way better than the ipod in quality and sound and because the music is stored on a chip rather than an hard drive the battery lasts over 30hours because no moving parts = longer battery life, if you're thinking on buying an mp3 player in my opinion this is the best player on the market period and such a BIG bargain!!!

Thankyou to play.com for such good quality customer service, i have purchased over 400 items and saved a fortune by shopping at play.com!

Not perfect but pretty good all the same

Have had this nifty piece of machinery for a while and it's pretty good. Fab when mates are around as I bought the bluetooth speakers and everyone loves having a go at being DJ without having to leave their seat.
Not perfect tho. Bluetooth breaks up if it's in my pocket. You can tell headphones are dying because it breaks up every 5 secs or so but thats my fault for not charging them often enough.
I think more than worth the money... just wondering if anyone has bought a suitable wristband/armband for gyming it. Haven't seen one that states it suits this model...

Back to the product... worth it if you can still buy it around the £100 with bluetooth headphones thrown in. And get the speakers, you'll never have to get off your butt again :)

Excellent quality and value Ipod alternative.

Well I received this today through Playtrade and I am very impressed so far. Both the batteries in the player and the bluetooth headphones were dead so after charging them up (maximum 3 hours) using the supplied plug for the headphones and the USB for the player I was ready to load some music on.
Software is provided in the form of Sony Media Manager but this works the same as Windows Media Player 11 (also supplied) - but not as slick in my opinion. Therefore I stuck to Media Player 11. Syncing your tracks works effortlessly and soon you get to experience the amazing quality of the music.

The player comes bundled with bluetooth headphones and some top quality earphones with 3 different types of buds to suit you own ears. The earphones really are excellent quality - you would pay at least £20 for these in the shops anyway. The bluetooth headphones are comfortable and the sound quality is also excellent. There are controls on the headphones for tracks and volume, and also a microphone to use these as a headset for your phone. They are not heavy and the battery is claimed to be 11 hours listening with 100 hours standby. I haven't had to charge them yet so I would not dispute this claim.

The player features graphic equaliser and different sound modes plus intelligent shuffle and much more. It has a clock feature and while your listening to the bluetooth headphones the screen goes blank and gently 'pulses' the time and date every 10 seconds or so, and the corner of the player also pulses blue when using the bluetooth feature.

There menu system is very easy to get to grips with, 10 minutes and most people will have no trouble at all.

Overall I am very impressed with the whole package. Excellent earphones and headphones and a great quality robust player with superb music reproduction and a great battery life.
