21.1 Megapixel full frame CMOS sensor
For the ultimate in creative shooting, the EOS 5D Mark II features a full frame CMOS sensor (36mm x 24mm). With no cropping or magnification effects, enjoy a true wide angle experience through the large, bright viewfinder. Redesigned pixels minimise noise, while a 21.1 Megapixel resolution surpasses the standards demanded by the leading picture agencies.

Canon's DIGIC 4 works with the EOS 5D Mark II's image sensor to deliver outstanding reproduction of colours and subtle tonal gradations. DIGIC 4 also delivers split-second start-up times, Face Detection AF in Live View mode, and additional HD movie recording.

High ISO
For handheld shooting in low light, the EOS 5D Mark II offers ISO speeds of up to 6400. For dark scenes where using flash is undesirable, this can be expanded to an incredible ISO 25600.

Full HD movie recording
The EOS 5D Mark II complements outstanding still imaging capabilities with Full HD (1080) video recording. Users can even shoot video to memory card without losing the ability to capture still images. An HDMI connection allows High Definition playback of footage and images on an HDTV.

3.0" High Resolution LCD
The 3.0" Clear View LCD features 920,000 dot resolution, wide viewing angle and dual anti-reflective coatings - allowing ultra-detailed image review in a variety of conditions. Live View displays real-time images on the LCD, offering three types of auto focus: Quick AF, Live AF, and Face Detection Live AF, which locks onto faces detected in the frame.

Up to 3.9 frames per second
The EOS 5D Mark II offers continuous shooting at 3.9 frames per second. When shooting JPEGs to a UDMA card, maximum burst is limited only by card capacity.

9-point AF + 6 Assist AF points
Precision auto focus is assured by Canon's AF system, which employs 9 selectable points and 6 Assist AF points.

EOS Integrated Cleaning System
Canon's built-in dust prevention system offers three ways of guarding images against the effects of dust: reduction of internal dust generation; an in-camera sensor cleaning mechanism; and the ability to map stubborn dust spots for removal with Digital Photo Professional software (included).

Durable, compact design
With a magnesium alloy construction, environmental protection and shutter durability of 150,000 releases, the EOS 5D

Incredible Performance and Low Light Capture

I have to say that after working with the Nikon D3 I was expecting Canon to have to step up to the mark with the 5D Mark 2. One day after Canon announced this new camera I popped along to my local Calumet to see about ordering one. To my amazement there was a Canon Rep there who had one in his hands. I was given a full presentation on the product and was able to use it hands on. The full frame is excellent. The low light sensitivity at 6400 is even better than the Nikon D3 and as a videographer I have to say I havent seen better video quality in high deifinition from a camera unless you go to around £50k. The camera itself is very light but feels strong and fits into the hands nicely.

There is also a new menu system which avoids having to use the annoying buttons on the top of the camera every time you want to do something simple.

The screen on the back of the camera is extremely sharp and when you zoom in on a picture it seems to interlace the display and then shapen it very quickly almost like when a web page is loading.

With 21 mega pixels you are able to shoot a landscape photo and take a portrait from it. Quite amazing.

Finally I took the camera into the darket corner of the shop and shot in almost darkness and foung the images to be noise free and crystal clear.

I have to say that I own canon and am a canon man through and through, however being a wedding photographer I have been looking at the Nikon D3 for its low light capabilities and until now was actually thinking of jumping ship selling my lenses and moving over. Not any more. The 5D mark 2 is better thean the D3 and blows the 1DS mark III away.

The only sore point is the price with pre orders on the internet around £2399 for body only. Then of course you find it here on PLAY . COM with the great 24 to 105 F4 lens for £2499, a bargain.

To conclude. For those starting out in the field of Wedding Photography, this is the camera. High resolution, super low light sensitivity. The best hi def video I have seen and a great screen and new menu system makes this camera currently the most advanced and best on the market.

If you use the 50mm 1.2 lense with the 5d mark 2 you get fantastic portraits with the background completly blurred out. Try it. This camera is a gem.

    Get in the queue now.

The camera was just amazing, the picture ive captured is like you are actually there. Its 21 mega pixels of pure genius. The price tag is sort of a swipe at ur pockets but its worth it. I recommened it strongly.
