Bought as my first DAB radio and am impressed with the quality. The layout of the controls is logical and intuitive, I like the buttons being on the top as the radio doesn't move about when pressed. The reception is good in the house and garage. Volume and sound quality also good.
Radio is good, sound is good and layout is good but if you plan to use it without the mains don't bother getting it as the batteries drain so fast. lucky for me i bought this for 20pound in the sale
I've owned this little radio for about 4-6 months.
Generally it looks nice but thats about as far as the positives go. I've never used it with batteries, just the mains so cannot comment on battery life.
The first problem with it is that it takes ages to start up and initialise (about 20 seconds). Also it always starts on Absolute 80's radio station (which I hate!). This is really annoying and then you have to re-tune it in again to station you prefer. The buttons are not very nice either. The tuning button is a swizel one on the side of the case.
When I was using it earlier in the kitchen the radio cut off. No light on the display or sound but still writing and words displayed on the screen. I tried turning it off and on, still no sound. I gave up tried it 2 hours later and it worked again. Strange....
Oh, and lastly, the sound quality is very poor, not as good as Pure Classic which I also have. Not very impressed with this little radio. Maybe I'm expecting too much and have been spoilt by the FM sound quality compared to the DAB poor quality.
If you want a battery operated DAB radio I suggest you do not buy this one - this has a battery life of just thirteen hours! (13 and a half if you only listen to FM!).
That means if you use this radio for just one hour in the morning and one hour in the evening you'll need to replace the batteries before the week is out. That's over 100 pounds on batteries a year - twice as much as the radios worth.
Compare that with my old Sony ICF-303 which would only need changing 2 or 3 times a year. A rip-off.
