Sony MDR -EX38 iP In-Ear Headphones For iPod / Black

Having read conflicting information on these headphones let me first confirm that these headphones do have :
(a) remote with 3 button clicker (volume up, volume down, generic 3rd button to pause/play/skip tracks/activate voice control on iphone); and
(b) a microphone (built into underside of remote)

Got these to replace the woeful Iphone 4 apple headphones. What an improvement. The bass on these headphones is like nothing I have ever heard on a set of bud's before. In fact my only criticism is that the bass may actually be too good. I had to adjust the sound settings on my Iphone4 to reduce the bass output as it was just too overpowering. Having made that adjustment all is now good. The headphones sit well in your ear.

The bud ends are slightly angled, not straight like other headphones I have used, so they grip really well when inserted into your ear. Once in they do a good job of blocking out external noise.

The only other issue I had was that the 3rd (middle) button on the headphones was very stiff for the first few days of use and didn't click when you pushed it. It seems to have now loosened itself off and now works very well.

Finally, the microphone works just as well as the Apple mic and is position just right on the headphone chord.

For under twenty quid I don't think there is another set of headphones with this features set out there that can touch the Sony's. Highly recommended.

My original Ipod shuffle earphones were adequate however, the volume control broke 2 weeks after the warranty ran out!
I didn't realise how cheap and tacky the Apple ones were, until I bought these Sony earphones. There is no comparsion.
The Sony earphones are a delight! .
They are so comfy to use & it's nice having the addtional ear pods, in various sizes, to cater for all ears.
The sound quality from my Ipod now feels enhanced somehow.

I've had these earphones for 10 months now (which is longer than my earphones usually last me). The sound quality is really good for the price range, good bass if that's your thing. The only thing is the wind noise, but it's not enough to overpower the audio. I would definitely buy these again! Great product!!

Works superbly for the Iphone4. I have been contemplating for this product for the last 3weeks if I will buy it or not. Because of its price, I was thinking it would be a poor quality, but I said to myself It is worth having a go but the earphone proved it was a right thing I've bought at a bargain price. The sound quality I can't fault it and no way you can beat the sound quality at this price. This earphone costs two-folds of its price(play) in the high street. This piece of SONY earphone is really superb. Now I will keep my old DENON because there is no mic and music control. The bonus for this product is having a pouch to keep when not in use and cable tidy to adjust cable length. Just can't stop saying SUPERB earphone.Many many thanks to Sony MDR EX38ip mwaaaahhh!!!

Great set of headphones, delivers amazing sound quality but shame the volume function does not work for iPhone 3G. Overall good set of replacement headphones for users that need headphones with remote like the iPod with mic vol control headphones.

Bought these to replace the standard Apple earphones for my little Shuffle which didn't stay in my ears! These are much better due to the fact that they can be pushed in as far as you need to block out any background noise. Of course, like the Apple headphones you can change song, turn up/down volume from the little button situated on the cord (opposite side to the Apple ones). Cord was too long but used the cord adjuster to shorten it which I would have prefered not to use - nevermind!

I like the earphones ESPECIALLY that is from Sony brand. It has good quality bass sound. If we use this earphone to the dedicated MP3 players it is fantastic but I use this to my iPhone 3GS which is NOT known for producing good quality sound as compared to the MP3 players.
The main reason for giving 4**** rating is the cable is looking like it will break if it gets stuck in something when moving around.
But hey if U care it then, it won't disappoint U.

I bought a pair of these to replace the earphones that came with my iPhone 4, as I lost them. I wanted a pair of earphones that were comfy, had excellent sound quality and had a remote that could do all of the things the Apple earphones could do. After doing plenty of research I opted for a pair of these, and alas, I was not disappointed.

First of all, I would like to point out (as it is not made clear in the product description) that these earphones DO have a microphone built in to the back of the remote, to enable hands-free calling. It may not be as good as the microphone on the Apple earphones and the callers voice does sound a little tinny and distant in comparison, but I haven't had any serious problems with calls so far.

The remote operates just like the supplied Apple iPhone 4 earphones. It has an up/down volume control and a triple function middle button - 1 click: pause/play/answer call/hang up. 2 clicks: skip to next track. 3 clicks: back to start of track/previous track. Other reviewers have noted that the middle button is a little stiff during first use, and I agree, but it loosened up within the first day.

These earphones are supplied with really comfy, soft buds of three different sizes and are easy enough to change, and do not come off easily at all once they're on. The buds are also quite effective at blocking out some unwanted sounds from your surroundings (if you've chosen the correct size buds for your ears). A Sony branded pouch is also supplied, but I don't use it as I reckon the earphones will still get tangled inside the pouch - I use a more compact case from an old Philips set, which has a zip and a small Velcro strap inside to keeps the phones separate from the wire (hence no tangling!). Sony also throws in a clever little gadget that allows you to neaten up any excess cord you may have flapping about. I've only just started making use of it recently and like it a lot. The cord leading to the phones are symmetrical and can also be neatened up with the tiny attached sliding clip.

The sound quality is very good indeed for the price of the earphones. The sounds is very well balanced and the low and high frequencies can be heard clearly. It is almost worth re-importing your music to a higher bit rate to make best use of the detail that these earphones can reproduce. My only criticism of the sound is that they lack resonance. For instance, the sound of plucked string or the strike if a percussion instrument dies quite quickly when compared with other earphones, which is a bit of an issue as I mainly listen to classical and jazz music. But I guess this can be overlooked when you consider the detail that these earphones can deliver. Another minor criticism is that I wished Sony had given these earphones a straight jack instead on a L-shaped jack, but I suppose I can live with that.

All in all, ad excellent set of earphones to buy when replacing the supplied set that are more comfy and sound a lot better!

Bought these for an HTC desire HD. The sound is good quality and bass comes through well. The inline controls work apart from volume so you can play/pause and answer calls as the mic works to. Clip would be nice to hold in place and also prefer asymmetrical cable so one earphone can go round you neck.

Bought a set of these back in March and for 5 months they were great, really impressed with the sound quality and integrated mic. However they have now broken and one earphone does not produce any sound. Frustrating as I would have expected them to last somewhat longer than 5 months.
