I bought these recently in America, on the flight out the planes seemed really noisy, sleep was impossible and the headphones provided for the film wholly inadequate, even with volume turned right up the films were unwatchable.
Read about these and decided to give them a go, the price initially caused me to sneeze, but I had the benefit of trying them on in the shop, they had a demonstrator set up and I thought the results were good. That coupled with the reviews was enough for me.
On the way home I tried them in a busy market place, the noise cancelling was truly astonishing, we were in an open space with men working, boom boxes blaring, children screaming, traders selling and general busy market sounds, when I turned them on all those sounds disappeared.
Then I used them in the plane, the roar of the jet engines disappeared and all I could hear was the announcements and a slight hum from the air conditioning, my wife also had a pair and amazingly we were able to hold conversation at normal levels, we were also able to watch the in flight movies comfortably on minimum volume and it became easier to get to sleep.
Later used them to listen to music from my laptop, these are a premium set of headphones in their own right based on the sound quality, and again because outside noise is cancelled there is no need to crank up the volume, got to be good for your ears
