The bass on these things are way too heavy most of the time. But that's not the true problem. It's just how immobile, ridiculous looking and uncomfortable they are. Your ears will either not get full surrounded or get so hot an irritated after 10 minutes that you need breaks during listening. Other headphones i've tried don't have this irritating quality, and for £15 you can do way better on play.com.

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars  Value headphones don't really get better than this

Got these to replace a knackered gaming headset that I never used the microphone for. Those cost about twice as much as I paid for these, and they're at least comparable in sound quality, possibly better.

Given that I am excessively sensitive to sound due to Asperger Syndrome, it was essential that these blocked out background noise well so that I was not unduly perturbed in noisy environments. They have helped me get through long workdays in an open-plan office and crowded Tube interchanges, probably better than my previous pair.

Obviously as I wear them for literally hours on end I can judge their comfort better than most - it's not perfect, sometimes I have to slip them off my ears for a few seconds, but they're certainly not painful and I'm still happily using them eight hours a day, five days a week, without any problems in durability.

The long cord is a bit fiddly as others have said but they come with a belt strap to wrap them around - although personally I actually find that more fiddly yet, so don't use it anymore. Your mileage may vary.

Ultimately, though, these headphones are worth substantially more than you're paying for them (I paid eighteen quid - they're twenty-five quid at the time of writing and I'd still call that cheap). How can you argue with that?

I bought these headphones to use with my laptop and it is the business. The sound quality is brillaint. I especially like how it cancels out any exterior noise.
so if you have the headphones on you will not hear someone talking, unless they are shouting, which i though ws brilliant feature.

Customer rating: 3 out of 5 stars  Pretty Good

I have had these for almost 2 weeks now and have been using them quite frequently.

My first impression of this, is that it is smaller than I expect it to be and they don't quite cover all the way around your ear (so be warned if you are looking for big over-the-ear headphones).

The sound of these are pretty good - I use them for my ipod and computer and I am satisfied with the sound quality and bass.

The sound-isolating is not great, it doesn't block out very much background noise - unless you have the volume on loud...

Overall at this price, these are of great value and they do look good, so its pretty good.

Hope you have found this useful!!

Add to basket and buy- stop searching!!!!
I was looking for some comfortable headphones firstly for long periods of use that block out background noise and deliver good strong bass. Having tried the 201's i thought i'd buy next ones up in price. I cannot explain how extremely happy i am with these. My sony mdr xd200's allthough were ok i found very 'creaky' (plastic/cheap) . These sit snug and songs from all genres come to life more so and i'm hearing lyrics and small effects i've never previously heard! So if you don't fancy playing 200 pound and fancy putting battery's in your headphones (which i have used) - buy these!!!!!!!!

I've heard so many negative things about these heaphones in reviews. The things that seem to come up again and again are:

1: The bass is a little heavy.
2. The cord is thin.
3.They are flimsy.

The bass to me seems very flat, in fact in an emergency I could probably turn out a decent studio mix on these. If anything they are a little warm in the125-200hz area (Mid-Bass) but only VERY slightly. The other low frequencies (they do go flat and low to about 25Hz) are superb.

The cord is pretty much about the same you'd get with any other Sennheisers. It will probably outlast you!! PLUS If it doesn't the leads simply unclip from the cups, you have a 2 Year guarantee and Sennheiser are great at replacing consumables in my experience.

If because they are light, take this to mean flimsy, then fair enough. However these things are used in theme parks, museums and conference rooms around the world. They are built to last. My friends' set were inadvertantly left with a group of marauding children at a 3rd Birthday Party and survived un-scathed (apart from a little icing and jelly)

To wrap up, I've given them 5 Stars (It would have been 4.5 had I the option available to me) only because it takes a while to get the fit comfortable, which I solved by leaving them stretched over a football overnight :) For the money, you are not going to better these wonderful pieces of technology....Save yourself time looking through the web for hours....You will always end up back at HD202!!

Over the years I have been through numerous headphone sets from various makers and this is by far one of the best I have owned (with the exception of the varying studio headphones I have used).
They have excellent response in all ranges (high, mid and low) and produce a crystal clear sound with all kinds of music, be it the crash of a cymbol, wail of distortion guitar, melody of a flute or pure bass of any Prodigy track. They have a comfortable fit and are adjustable for all head sizes, are light for a pair of over the ear headphones and as an added bonus block out a tonne of noise without having to pay £100 extra for a noise canceller. I have worn these on the London Undergrouynd before with no music and they have blocked out even the loudest of conversations.

The only downsides I found to these headphones are:
1) that they started off abit bass heavy until they are broken in. What I would suggest is to not listen to your music player on full whack when you first get them. Start at a low/medium level and then build up and in doing that they will perform for years without shaking the speaker cone apart.
and 2) that after a LOT of wear the height adjust wears away making them difficult to customise to different head sizes. This has not been a major issue for me as mine are now about 4 years old and have only just worn down to a state where adjustment is pretty much knackered. That said I am going to investing in exactly the same pair again.

So to sum up if you are on a budget but want a set of over the ear headphones with the sound quality of something much more expensive then these are the 'phones for you. Happy listening!

Customer rating: 3 out of 5 stars  Excellent audio but cables are a problem.

Thorpe  |  09/11/2009  |  See all Thorpe's reviews (20) »

Had these for some time now and overall, excellent audio (as you would expect from Sennheiser) and a comfortable fit. However, with that being said, please read on.

It is best to try and keep these from being knocked, pulled etc because the cables that go into them are quite thin. On the right side, the cable has become loose and eventually I guess it was pulled out too far because I can no longer hear audio in the right.

If you take extreme care with these, then you should have a good experience. However, just after time, you may notice that even with good care, that the cables have become pulled/worn.
