Goldring NS1000 / Active Noise Reduction Cancelling Headphones

I was persuaded to buy these by the reviews I read on this site, but have to say I'm disappointed.

Having tried my dad's Bose on ear phones I was all for buying a set...I did some last minute mooching to find the best deal I could on the web and came across these headphones...well, the reviews say it all, and there are so many positive ones...I wonder sometimes whether people write good reviews so they don't feel as bad as they might!

Anyway, onto my review...having tried the Bose phones with a number of songs on my ipod I was mighty impressed with the delivery and range of sound they offered...I was all for having me some. When I decided to get the Goldring's I believed I was going to get something as good as, if not better that the Bose...sadly I've been misled.

The sound quality isn't great...certain songs on my ipod sound very flat and the range of audio isn't fantastic. With the Bose phones I could pick out instruments that simply disappear when I wear the Goldring's...the noise cancellation is good...my house is being insulated as we speak and the drills were drowned out by the circuitry.

However, it's the range and clarity that the Goldring's miss out on...maybe because of the cavity created by the cups and the ear...it sounds a bit like you're in a hall listening to the music...next time I buy, I'll be going purely on a sound test...never buy stuff like this without listening to them yourself first...that's my advice.

I bought these headphones a few years ago, they were great until my sister broke them, i just purchased a new pair however when i turn on the noise reduction i get a loud feeding static noise in the left ear that is very annoying, ino this should not be here, has anyone else had this problem?

Check Search Engine for GOLDRING NS1000 REVIEWS ignoring some peoples petty remarks. If you use quality equipment you will get quality sound !! SIMPLES !!

Step 2)

Look for other headphones that are not only well reviewed,but also a third of their original price.

Step 3)

BUY THESE BABIES (If only to enjoy the feeling of putting them away in their gorgeous hard-case!)

Step 4)

Laugh at other people who have bought similar goods from other manufacturers at full price in the vain belief that they are better because they cost more...... YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!

I never buy anything on impulse. I research until there's nothing left to read or hear usually. I'm spoiled at home as I have what would be classed as a mid-range audiophile setup in the front room so I'm now quite fussy about what goes into my ears from sound sources.
After all the reading I had 3 or 4 pairs of phones in my short list but didn't buy because I was trying to find a suitable excuse to justify to the wife why I'd spent so much money on a pair of earphones. These were in my list alongside Dr Dre Monster beats, Bose QC3's & Senheisser PMX250/350's. when I saw these on play for what is no money, amazing 50 squid, of course I jumped on a pair. I've been listening for a few days now and the sound quality is great. The top end can be a little harsh at times when NC is active but the mids are clear, not muddy at all, the bass is powerful and tight and they produce a very clean sound yet a little on the warm side.
The down side is that I had to order the wife a pair too as she's fell in love with them too. we both sit in our car's at lunchtime with our ipod's listening to music or watching TV shows etc and these are perfect.
Going to Africa for a while in a few weeks so these are going to rule on the flight. They are very comfortable and aren't tiring to wear.
The one downside is that they do leak noise somewhat. If your on a bus or tube this could be quite annoying for other passengers. Just something to bear in mind.
All in all I'm well pleased and I got 2 pairs for 2/3's of what I was planning to pay. Highly recommended, you won't be disappointed.

I have to say that these are amazing value. I bought a pair for myself and another for my travelling companion before a recent long haul flight. For the first time ever the inflight entertainment was worthwhile. Likewise, my laptop (with a double headphone adaptor) was an invaluable companion. Previously, I had never bothered with either when flying since I found that no matter what the headphones were that the sound was always drowned out by the constant roaring, whining, hissing and the rest.

There's more to the noise cancelling than just in flight entertainment, though. Just turn these on with nothing connected and a 747 was suddenly an environment in which I could actually fall asleep for the first time ever. So much so that taking them off again was a bit of a shock!

Outside of this they are actually very good headphones that would be worth the money at the price in themselves. Moreover, they are oddly even better with the cancelling turned on even in a quiet room. Somehow anything becomes more engaging and enveloping when you do turn it on.
