Sony RDR-HXD890 160GB HDD Freeview DVD Recorder (Black)

I decided to purchase this dvd recorder after a bit of research because we wanted to replace our old analogue dvd recorder with one which had a digital receiver so we could record from Freeview. I went with this one as it had all the features I could ever need, it has a massive 160gb hard drive which will store hours and hours of recordings. It is so simple to use, has a very intuitive menu system which takes a matter of minutes to pick up. To record a programme you simply call up the epg, select the programme you wish to record and hey presto, it's that simple even my wife can use it!
If you are after a top quality dvd recorder with a good sized hdd and a digital tuner then look no further than this one. You will not be disappointed.

I purchased this product approx 3 years ago. I assumed that due to it being Sony that the product would last a long time especially when it has only been used sparingly. It has now decided to have a mind of its own. The timer advance is constantly on, i cannot change channels as it thinks it is gearing up to record something that it isnt. The system will not allow me to do a channel search either automatically or manually. Overall no bad for the first 2/3 years but wouldnt you know it when the warranty runs out the thing starts playing up. If this is the case with most modern technology of this sort i would personally advise buying a similar cheaper brand. I expected much better from Sony.
