First off lets be clear. I bought one from here about 9 months ago. It looks good and sounds great which is what you'd expect from sony and that is probably the main thing... Also, its dead easy to configure against a netgear wireless router if you're remotely technical and understand your router. So it'll sit on your home network and you can forget the wireless router provided by sony...Now the quibbles:1) Yes it will spend an age to power up and then go to stand by so its no use for a quick "ooh i fancy a tune" moment2) Get a half decent mp3 library on it (equiv 300 cd's) and the navigation is poor3) It does not stream wirelessly your cd's or "proper" fm/dab radio received by the main unit - only mp3's from the hdd.4) The client wireless unit is the thing that receives internet radio (direct from your internet connection) not the main unit, the client unit is good for only internet radio or mp3's from the main unit... The internet radio providers you are allowed are preset by sony and not configurable... You will not be able to listen to "proper" broadcast bbc radio received on the main unit on the client unit for example. Search t'interweb - trust me. Look up the sorry saga on avforums :)All in all a disappointment based on the apparent "promise" of multi-room - dig deeper and you'll find it compromises on many things - most likely to keep it affordable. An ipod-like touch screen for example would have been great... And/or some pc-based music library software to remote manage the library from your pc as the interface is so poor - similar to the music library pc software common to mobile phones. The main thing i've learnt from this purchase is the questions that would need answering by any prospective replacement.

I love this product but (its probably me) every time after switching it off, when i power it back on, it loads the settings and then switches off! Then i have to press the stand by button again? This cant be intentional, can it??!!

What can i say, sony have delivered another quality product, for those who appreciate good sound and quality this is for you. Although i'm not totally techno minded i found my way around the system storing and editing music quite easy. The manual is very explainitory and well descriptive so nothing to fear there then and as it is £200 cheaper than our well known electrical suppliers it's an absolute bargain. i would recommend this product as Play.com delivered as stated in time and in exellent condition. Enjoy!
