Bought this item new to replace my PS3. Dead easy to set up no nonsense stuff, all i can say its knocks the ps3 into a cocked hat. Up scaling on normal dvd's is fantastic a lot clearer and sharper than anything i have seen previously. Excellent value for money, picture quality is exceptional. Recomend if your thinking of buying a blu ray player this is the one to get.

  Another Great Sony product

As a noob to blu-ray I was looking for a cheap, entry level player with a good spec. After reading review after review of this player I parted with my hard earned cash, purchased this machine and guess what? this is better than I expected. A feature packed player which offers great sound and picture quality on blu-ray and dvd upscaling. The only downside is I will now be kissing my wages goodbye on blu-ray discs. Highly recommended.

I decided to upgrade my Phillips DVD player to blu-ray after seeing a demo in a local store. I hadn't any intention of playing blu-ray discs - I just wanted to watch my existing DVD collection in near HD. This machine does not disappoint. From removing it from the box to watching a movie took me less than 5 minutes as the "handshake" between the player and my Sony Bravia HD telly was instantaneous.
The picture quality is superb and the sound is crisp and clear. The only slight niggle at first was the purring noise the disc makes when playing which sounds like a snoring cat . The discs don't take any longer to load than my old DVD player and you soon get used to the lack of an eject button on the remote control. All in all I think this is a cracking machine for the money (I got mine from Play for 99.99. ) Throughly recommended.

  Finally Got The DVD

Avatar Steelbook came today (only took 2 months!)
This Blu Ray Player is fantastic for the money, better than the ps3 one imo. Upscaling is also very impressive, star trek, star wars, transformers all look high def, it has to be said upscaling only works on newer dvds, films likes shawshank etc look no different.
Theres no eject button on the remote which is a slight pain but with the loading times when u power up thats the only gripe I have with this player, its well worth purchasing

  free blu-ray film.yeah right.

This is my first blu-ray player as i had heard alot about HD films so i thought id see for myself, what can i say, this player really delivers on all levels, the intense detail in the pictures is amazing, lord of the rings and avatar are out of this world, not to mention the sound upgrade. highly recomend this player

Bought this for Mum & Dad for their new HD TV. Great deal simple to use. Got the deal with a free blu-ray disk. Going to get one for myself. I don't use the optical audio. Plugged into the Hi Fi it sounds great. Good replacement for old DVD players.

  Fab Blu-Ray Player

I'd been looking at this player for about a week when the price suddenly dropped from 119.99 to 99.99 so I jumped at the chance and bought it. Arrived quickly (as usual from Play), litterally plug in and answer 2 questions to set up and you're off! Upscales DVDs beautifully and really makes the most of our HD TV. We hired Avatar and it really was everything I hoped Blu-Ray would deliver - I hadn't realised it would have such an effect on the sound too, which was amazing. Unit looks fab too, nice and slim and unobtrusive, it has a little strip of light on the front which glows white when you have a DVD playing, but then changes to blue when you load a BR disc. Remote also controls our TV which is always handy too. And yes it does take a few moments to load up, but not really any longer than it takes you to move from the player and get settled on the sofa!

I recently purchased the Sony BDP 360.I must sya this was a great bargain, which is supposed to include 'Avatar'??? Where is it i ask? I fortunately bought another film to test out the player, which doesnt fail to impress.Well recommended! My biggest concern is that the price was 119.99 pounds with free film.On the day after receiving the player the price of this is now 99.99 pounds with no film. How is the 'Avatar'film free?????? I would give a lower rating due to this issue but the player is brilliant,so 4 stars given as no film received yet.
