Sony SRS-NWGU50 Walkman Speaker Dock

I agree with the previous reviewers.

Why doesn't Sony support its own MP3/4 with a range of docking stations that Sony makes for the iphone? Maybe Sony could just change the connection fitting on its models to be compatible with the iphone & that would open up a whole new world to Sony MP3 users for a whole range of accessories not currently available.

So to the product itself. For the money I have no problem with the good sound reproduction. What I have a problem with is the remote usability. I use a Sony NWZ S544 with this docking station and all the remote will do with my model is On/Off ,Volume and FF or RW. So far so good but when you are finished with an album & want to change it you must take the MP3 out of the flimsy docking station to change the album by hand on the MP3 player. This docking station would be immeasurably better if you could change albums by remote. The other thing which is really annoying to me is that you cannot play the radio through it. Why not, Sony? If Sony fixed these two things I would be rating it with the best but as it stands 3 stars is all I can honestly give.

There has been some discussion as to whether this product is loud enough. It's 10w X 10w RMS and therefore you cannot expect it to be as loud as a quality Hi-Fi but I find it perfect for taking on holiday and is plenty loud enough for the kitchen or a small lounge.

Edit; Since writing this I have found that I can connect my NOKIA phone to this unit via an audio cable. Sound reproduction is still great from my phone's music player and what's more, I can listen to internet radio or local radio too! That makes this unit well worth the money and makes me a very satisfied customer!

I originally bought my Sony MP3 player about 3yrs ago and was astounded at how difficult it was to pick up a decent docking station for it, so I dug deep into my pocket and treated myself to this little fellow last year. I really can't find anything bad to say about it! The sound quality is amazing!

I did read a few reviews myself before buying which said things about the volume not going load enough, well, believe me, it is, I have had no problems at all with the sound level. Also I read a review that said about the remote being a bit useless, well, I do kind of understand this statement as you can't got into different folders on your mp3 player (this might be different for different mp3 player models) but volume control and turning off and on are handy to be able to do at a distance!

I love it, I don't know want I would do without it now, and I would suggest to anyone to get one to go with your Sony Mp3 player.

There are far too many Sony products that support Ipod/Iphone and not their own Walkman products these days, so I was glad I was able to track down this little beauty. The sound quality is awesome and the bass boost is nice. It acts as a charger, and the remote control tops it all off for me, with the ability to skip through albums being a nice little touch.

One thing to point out is that despite the spec stating it only supports a limited number of models, it comes with two cradles and I use it with my NWZ-S639F and my wife's NWZ-S544. No problems so far.

I have been a big fan of my very small and great sounding Walkman for the last 4 months, and in the last day or so, this wonderful Sony Docking station arrived, great price from Play.com - 40% cheaper than the Sony Centre, it has a lovely rich sound, much better than I thought MP3 could ever achieve, so well done Sony & thank you - You've made my home office a nicer place to be..
