  Good looker, neat, easy assembled

This looks stunning - and its at a good price too (available locally for 100 pounds more!)
Took 1/2 hour to assemble.
Would recommend - but take care on assembly - it would be easily scratched.

  Money well spent

Excellent quality. This is the best self build I have ever done. Well packaged with screws and parts seperated, numbered or lettered. Build time was an hour (ish). Anyone claiming to have done it in 30mins is either kidding themselves on or had lost track of time. Its good looks have already been commented on by friends.

  Awesome unit for the price

Arrived very well packaged and not smashed glass like others have said, i think play have improved their packing since some of these comments. The unit was very easy to put up and the screws and bolts were all individually wrapped making it a lot easier than other units ive put up, all in all its a very sleek and sexy looking thing what you waiting for buy it!!!

  Very pleased - eventually!

These stands are nearly half the price at Play.com that Comet charge, but the difference is that you need to have it delivered by courier, and that unfortunately is where the problem lies...

When the courier arrived he was, to give him his due, honest enough to mention that there was some damage to the packaging, and he wasn't kidding - the side was based in and a section about 10 inches by 6 inches and 3 inches deep was ripped from the side of the box and the top section was crushed down, although in an attempt to disguise this was covered up with a rather large amount of tape with the courier's logo emblazoned on it! The courier assured me it would be okay, but I rejected it anyway to be on the safe side.

I then had to go through a fair bit of rigmarole to get Play to send me a replacement - apparently the company policy is to automatically refund rather than replace but eventually they did ship another one and it was fine. The courier did mention though that when he was delivering the second one that the floor of his van had been covered in broken glass from the first stand...

So what is the stand like? Excellent, the included instructions are very easy to follow (allow about 60-90 minutes for assembly) and for the money the quality is top notch.

Some other reviewers have noted that Sky remotes have trouble working through the glass door and to a certain extent they are right, if your seating area is within 6-7ft or thereabouts you should be fine, but any more than that and the remote doesn't work.

So, would I recommend the S&C Modus Cabinet ? Yes, but to save yourself a lot of hassle make sure to inspect the outer packaging carefully upon delivery and reject the parcel if there is *any* damage at all.

is not beamthru more than 6 feet away

| | See all kaggscotland's reviews (1)

nice looking compact unit, fairly easy to build, arrived quickly and in good condition, but cannot use remote control more than 6 feet from unit unless door is left open, and kids are then liable to trip over it, did not mention that in the spec.

Fantastic value, looks great, easy assembly

Got this today, arrived safely and on time. i quickly checked the item for any damage while the courier was kind enough to wait a couple of minutes (as there are glass sections it's well worth checking, but be nice to the courier!). It took about half an hour at the most to assemble (easy if you're familiar with flatpack furniture - instructions are very clear and easy to follow with well labelled sections and components).

i've got to say, it looks superb. there's a real quality look to the item and it's an absolute steal at the price. i've seen this item on other sites aound 120-130 quid , plus delivery!

Well done Play and S&C

Heavy & Solid but Fiddly To Put Together

| | See all racersteve's reviews (1)

If you are looking for a high gloss heavy style tv unit, you wont be disappointed with the end result of building this. However it is fiddly and takes 1.5 - 2 hrs to assemble. Pieces and assembly is very similar to typical flat pack manufacturers so at 89 pounds its in line with similar products available. At its full RRP I am sure you would be disappointed. So in summary if you are looking for a DIY, cheap but good looking cabinet I would recommend.
