It worked well for 1 year...

I got this 14 months ago and I was very happy with it. Text not as sharp as the new kindle, but it was good enough. However, couple of weeks ago, the bottom left corner of the screen got lots of black lines that wouldnt go. I tried resetting, reinstalling the firmware...nothing. And yesterday, the whole screen got really really dark and it's almost impossible to read. I can't find any information on how to sort it out, and since the product is not on warranty anymore...well, I think I'm going to have to move to Kindle!

I have had this reader for a few weeks and am extremely pleased with it, it works flawlessly with my iMac. It is very easy to hold and use, the page turn buttons are in just the right place and it is a simple task to bookmark your page and if needed enlarge the text.
All in all a great ereader.

Wifi is not "option." Currently, wifi enabled version is not available. But wifi version is expected to be coming in early Q2 2010.

The ebook reader can read pdf, MS office files(ppt, doc, xls),and play mp3,wma, ogg audio files.

So impressed by their unbeatable customer support like constant firmware updating!

  Great Product

Iriver are constantly updating the firmware and adding new features to this product, decreasing loading times and adding new functionality like dithering to increase clarity of displayed images and change displayed fonts using reflow even if you're reading from scanned pdf files.

It also lacks the copy protection limitations on the other ereader products that can be troublesome at times by erroneously preventing you from reading items that you have actually legally purchased or have created yourself.

The user support and features of Iriver products have always been quite excellent for probably being one of the more underappreciated brands.

I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for an ereader.

I took a punt on this based on very positive PR as the kindle "killer".
The fact that this reader does the basics really well , is a very thin and light - its about as half as thin as the sony . More to the point it has 2gb internal memory but also a removable SD . Then you come to the important stuff . It allows mircosoft software progammes to be up loaded and utisised via the mini keyboard. Voice recording for all those times when you need to get it all down - lectures , legal stuff etc.. Its future proofed as it will handle comic and newspaer formats. The personal organiser is on board as well . Dont follow the crowd buy this area.
