Wow!!!!!!!ordered 2 days ago from factory rerurb direct a reseller on play.com. Came within 2 days.i was worried this would be a unit that had been repaired or returned because of know problems with disc playback being noisey etc.let me just say there is no noise fron disc playback whatsoever connecttion to internet and set up was a doddle and its updated to latest firmware no probs, the online content is unbelievable, bbc i player in hd plus lots of other content in hd,the sound just off normal tv is stunning, but connected to my cinema surround sound is simply stunning!!!!,the unit is very slim and looks basic, but believe me dont judge a book by its cover!!!!im playing as i write avatar bluray rip from my usb (needed to format to fat 32),its simply stunning and its only a bluray rip not full bluray.i payed 76 pounds for this from factory refurb direct, and i assure you it was brand new, box was in good condition,it was factory sealed and nothing had been touched inside.if you had any doubts like i did, dont!!!!!!! I took the risk at this price and i was not disappointed.buy buy buy!!!!!!!update......this has not got built in wifi just bought a 10m network cable for 3pounds off ebay and simply connected to my router and the back of the sony bluray automatically connected and did the firmware update,i prefer the hard wired route anyway.last night i had movies and music streaming from my laptop to my bluray player and used mezzmo software it worked flawlessly and its brought a new dimension to how i now watch movies and listen to music.using the usb option is great, but streaming is even better especially when sourced through my surround sound in my case using the optical output (or if you have it on your surround sound hdmi.)buy!!!buy!!!buy!!!

The greatest single purchase I have bought, it just brings films to life on an HD TV and Play.com have the lowest price I've seen anywhere on the web.

I recently ordered The Sony Blue-ray Disc Player from Play.com and was very impressed with the speed and efficiency of its' delivery. An excellent price and service. Works OK but as yet I have not explored the machines' full potential.

  Does not need dongle

Great dvd player. Have been reading the reviews for this device and it gets high ratings everywhere. The prices range from 99 to 189 depending where you look.Buying so can access Lovefilm in the living room without having to move ps3 around and change wired settings to wifi. It can be region unlocked for dvd, not blu ray.
If you want to connect to internet you dont HAVE to buy the dongle. The other option is to buy 2 power over ethernet plugs (about 35) plug one in next to your router and connect the ethernet cable to the router port. Then, plug the other in where your player is and connect the ethernet cable to the ethernet port on the player. Hey presto! More secure than wifi and more stable. Power over ethernet works the same as those baby monitor devices do. They also work with any other internet enabled devices ps3,xbox etc that have ethernet ports. Great for those wifi blackspots. Hope this helps!

  Superb Blu-ray + internet TV!

It was a toss-up between this or the Panny DMPBD45. I'm glad I went for this one! Plays Blu-ray discs brilliently as well as existing DVDs. But to get internet TV as well at this price (89.99 when I purchased) is amazing! Yes, you have to buy a bit of extra kit (I bought a 'network over the mains' product to link to my router) but it connected effortlessly and I was watching BBC i-player in minutes. The picture quality is much better than I expected too. The front panel buttons are very small & feel flimsey but apart from that build quality seems good. A Blu-ray player for 90 quid is great but to get quality internet-TV as well is fantastic!

This, in my opinion, is the best thing Sony has ever made! I needed to change BR player after Sharp stopped offering a firmware upgrade on my previous one, and got this for the bargain price of 89.99. It truly is money well spent! The picture is fantastic, and the disc load up time is super-quick (even in the restricted mode). Everything is so straight forward to use and the set-up could not be easier. The added bonus is the link up, via an LAN cable, to things such as BBC iPlayer, Five-On demand, Youtube and British Eurosport. I had to buy a 5m LAN cable, but these can be found for only a few quid on ebay. Also, once again, the service and delivery from Play was fantastic! Super quick delivery and everything just as they said it would be. Play is truly the best online retailer!

I was going to waste money buying a computer to put by the telly but this does everything I wanted for a fraction of the price.

Wireless doesn't interest me as it's just too slow for media streaming, the built in ethernet is ideal. I can play media from the computer using dlna or pop it on a pen drive and watch it from that. I also have a small 80gb hard disk plugged in round the back.

Iplayer and lovefilm work perfectly. I only own one blu ray title so I didn't buy it for that, but it's nice to know I can in the future.

Top class player at an unbelievable price

I had been looking at this player for a while. When the price came up at GBP89.99 I couldn't press the buy button quickly enough. Service was excellent, the player arrived in 3 days from play.com. It worked straight out of the box and the difference over DVD is immediately noticeable. Fantastic player, great price and a happy purchaser!

  Stuff Going Green! Go Blu!

Since the Blu-ray first came out I rather sceptical about whether or not it would be much better than DVD. I bought this Blu-Ray yesterday and I'm amazed. The only problem/enquiry i have with it is i want to play MP4's on it via USB two MP4 files don't work but the third does, and I'd like to know why it's weird.

I'm not to sure whether I want to pay 60 pounds - 70 pounds on a sony dongle for wireless. Is it worth it?
