Sony MDR-NC33 Noise Canceling Headphones


Whether you're traveling, commuting, or working at the office, the compact and comfortable MDR-NC33 noise canceling earbuds provide an optimal listening experience by reducing 90 percent of ambient noise. Enjoy studio-quality sound from the 13.5mm driver units, while a convenient monitor switch allows you to minimize your audio and listen to conversation. When noise cancellation isn't necessary, the passive feature lets you operate these earbuds as regular stereo headphones without using the battery. Additional features include a gold-plated, L type stereo mini plug and supplied carrying pouch.


Noise canceling technology

Noise canceling headphones reduce ambient noise and provide a quieter environment to enhance audio entertainment. The headphones have an inside microphone on each earpiece that work with an electronic circuitry to create an opposite sound wave to reduce wave. Ambient sound is reduced by synthesizing with a sound in opposite phase produced by the noise canceling circuit.


Monitor function

Built-in monitor function lets you minimize the audio playback so you can listen to the surrounding environment.

These in-ear phones give good clear mid and high tones. The bass is, if anything a bit muddy, but then this causes less ear damage.
As to the sound cancellation; I have only tried this at home, but Sony's claim of 90% reduction is greatly overstated. My Sennheiser PXC 250s claim 80% reduction but are far superior in this area.
Still the Sony set are still good value for the money.
