Great Machine but the Extras are a bit Half baked!

I got this player on a fantastic deal here on Play.com with the 6 free discs, so I cannot really complain from its point of view of being a BluRay player. Picture is stunning on my 40 inch Sony.
However, thats where it ends. The Internet@TV option is really a half baked waste of time! The only videos you can get are on YouTube, but the search option is fidgety and annoying! BBC iPlayer is 'coming soon', LoveFilm is 'coming soon' , Muza.tv is yes you guessed it 'coming soon'.
There is an Internet+ option, which I have no idea what it is, as when you press it it eventually takes you back to the main screen.
On contacting Samsung 'Customer Services' they could give me no indication as to what it does and when the iPlayer option will be added so I dont hold out much hope.
So if you are looking for online content then this not the player for you, try looking at the Sony's. however if you are looking for a reliable slick looking player then this could be the player for you.

This is a very good blu Ray player and it does play mkv files via the USB port, I use a usb2 powered hard drive plugged into the USB port with lots of mkv files on it, well recommended

  Excellent value for money

Having had one of the early samsung players, I decided this was a too good an offer to miss to upgrade my deck. The player output looks even better than my original deck plus it is easily changed to multi-region DVD playback (not multi-region Bluray) with a few key presses on the remote which I discovered using a quick google search .

The player also runs much cooler than the first generation decks and is half the size and weight.

The internet tv and apps held my interest for about ten seconds, I can't see me using them much. The main gripe was when I played a YouTube video I got a blast of advert at double the normal volume. Might just have been that one video, but it's not a feature I bought the deck for.

It did take a little setting up to get the sound output into the right format for my AV amp, but so do most decks.

For a hundred quid including postage and six bluray titles this is a brilliant offer. As usual Play delivered within a few days. Excellent.

I was um-ing and ah-ing about getting this at 120 pounds but then it went down to 100 pounds and I could not miss this offer.
The 6 free Blu-rays are a brilliant start to anyones collection.
I was pleasantly surprised that they were in proper Blu-ray cases and not cardboard slip cases.
The HD is amazing, so clear!
It doesn't come with a HDMI cable but you can pick them up for a fiver on this very site.
All in all I'm very impressed.

  Worth the Price

With the included 6 films this is worth the price, it seems to play Bluray fine (not as fast as I'd hoped but faster than a previous machine I had).

I'm having a few issues playing MKV files from an attached hard drive, after about 10 seconds the films start to stutter and no matter what I do, I can't resolve this. AVI (Divx) films appear to be fine.

Also worth noting that this device does NOT support Samsung Allshare as per the web page (it will not connect to your PC remotely).

Despite the above, I will be keeping this unit because as a basic Bluray player it works fine.

  Stunning for the price !!

Received my player on Monday, having recently selling my ps3 i needed a standalone Bluray player. With the six free films divx playback a usb connection, stunning value a superb picture, to my eyes superior to the ps3's playback. The player upscales standard dvd's very well, I use it with a 50inch 1080p Panasonic Viera with full HD sound via an Onkyo amp. Sound and picture are superb an absolute steal for the money

6 blu rays and the player for 99 quid... BARGAIN!!!! it is a quick loader, quiet and with an excellent pictue. You do need a wifi dongle to use the internet of hard wire via ethernet but to be honest this is only worth doing when you get it to update the software and then disconnect until the featyres like Lovefilm work and BBC iplayer is launched. Go on you know you want one..... buy it before it disappears.

I decided to have a complete overhaul of my home entertainment set-up and bought this at the sametime as a new Samsung TV.
I am glad that I did.
The load times are very quick and the controls on the actual player are very light to the touch which feels nice.
I have also found that its remote is interchangeable with the one I received with my tv which can be handy when fumbling for it in the dark.
You get six films with it and they are a nice mixture. Just think what six Blu-rays are worth and then take that off the price of the whole package and you are effectively getting a player for around sixty pounds.
