Good build quality. Customer support. A selection of ear pieces to choose from.
Muddy bass bias. Lack of detail and clarity for the price. Stiff plastic cable.
Let me first say, I spent a great deal of time trying to get the best in-ear fit. With in-ear phones the fit makes the difference between strong/weak bass and the clarity of the sound generally. I also tried them with several different sources. I really wanted to like them. However, after all my efforts they were disappointing. The whole sound had a bass bias which lead to it being muddy. There was at the same time a lack of deep bass low frequency sound. To add insult to injury there was a general lack of clarity. No amount of EQ adjustment seemed to help. The cable was stiff and noisy. The over ear fit was not particularly secure if exercising.
Compared to the Sennheiser CX95 they lacked light airiness and could not improve on lowest bass frequency output. The Sennheisers could produce greater clarity across the frequency spectrum. Compared to the Shure SE215, the Phonak could not reproduce frequencies as low as the Shure. The Shure also has a bass bias but not the lack of clarity of the Phonak. Adding treble to the Shure did bring out high end detail and airiness, this was not the case with the Phonak.
A generally disapointing sound at this price. There is a bass bias without the real low bass sounds and a general lack of clarity/space. The accessories are a little lacking at this price considering the very mediocre sound. In short, it would not be hard to find better phones for a lot less
