Multimedia Entertainment with TechniSat HDFV
The HDFV offers not just stunning high definition pictures and outstanding quality but also a unique level of features. Numerous interfaces and additional features make this digital receiver a home entertainment system to satisfy your multimedia needs.
The built-in USB interface enables digital photos in JPEG format, music files in MP3 format and movies in MPEG format to be played on your TV via the receiver. This means that you can relax and view holiday photos and videos with your family and friends on your TV or listen to your favourite music. The music player will display album artwork and albums and tracks can be set to repeat or play randomly using the shuffle option. Multiple USB devices can be connected with the addition of a USB hub.
Connecting the HDFV to your Home Network
In addition to multimedia playback from external devices, the HDFV can be connected to a home network so that music, movie and picture files can be played directly from a PC or Network-Attached Storage - NAS. It is UPnP so is compatible with Windows 7.
All your multimedia content can be placed in a 'shared' folder on your PC and this folder can then be accessed via the HDFV using the remote control. Simply connect the ethernet port of the HDFV to your broadband router using a suitable ethernet cable. Then access 'Network Settings - LAN' via the on screen menu. If it is properly connected, the router will provide an IP address to the HDFV - just press the green accept key and the HDFV is now part of your home network.
Watch TV programmes when you want - DVR and Timeshift
Extending the features and functionality still further, with the additional of an external hard disk drive, the TechniSat HDFV becomes a Digital Video Recorder (DVR). Connect any size hard disk drive to the USB port and the HDFV is now ready to record all of your favourite TV programmes.
Setting up recordings could not be easier and can be done using the 'Timer Organiser' in the on screen menu or by directly highlighting your chosen programmes in the Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) - there are also repeat options so a programme that is broadcast at the same time every day or every week can be recorded automatically.
Multimedia Playback from external storage
The Technisat HDFV comes equipped with a USB interface to allow external memory devices to be inserted for the purpose of displaying or playing music, movies and pictures directly on your television.
Movies in MPEG2 format can also be played by copying them to a USB memory stick or an external hard disk drive. Controlling movie playback is as you would expect from a DVD player or Video Cassette Recorder (VCR) - play/pause, fast forward, rewind and stop are all activated using the colour keys on the remote control.
