  Not bad but not Samsung

| | See all Durks66's reviews (1)

Like most people have said this isn't a Samsung TV - this was pointed out to me after I'd ordered it, my mistake, I'm normally sharper on those things. So after thinking I'm getting a bargain I'm actually just getting a supermarket brand TV. Having said that, for the price it's got a pretty good picture but the sound quality is pretty poor - expect I'll buy some cheap PC speakers and use them through the headphone socket. Have already removed the "Samsung - panel inside" sticker, it just draws your attention to the fact that it's pretending to be Samsung. Not sure if it comes off the stand, it's delivered already connected to a stand and this is fine for me but if you want to put it on the wall best to check that out first. So if you want a basic TV then it seems great, just a little crafty of them to try and trick you into thinking it's more than it is!

  Top TV but cant record?

| | See all GazzaBJ's reviews (1)

This TV does exactly what the seller says and is a good quality product.

However, I do not have any settings that allow me to record to USB, which according to several reviews on here you should be able to do. Maybe I have old software but there is no mention in the manual on how you update it!

I have now contacted the seller on 2 occasions about this and had no repy, so if anyone else can help me I would be grateful?

I cant fault the TV otherwise, but if I could record it would have got the full 5 stars.

Some issues and misrepresentation but generally good

CONNECTIONS. First of all Id like to say the TV is good for its price but dont be missold. The tv says that it has a *Ypbpr component*. It in fact does not. This was one of the reasons I bought the TV as my console has these outputs but didnt come with an hdmi lead. Upon reading the instructions it says that you need to buy an adapter and then plug it in to the VGA slot. If you have to buy an adapter then the TV is not compatible. Otherwise you could write its compatible with absolutely everything. So I went and bought an hdmi cable and I now have my console connected but the hdmi port in the back of the TV has some movement in it and requires a little bit of fiddling to get the picture to come through without fuzz. This was half the reason I sold my last TV.

SCREEN. The screen is pretty decent when youve got a DVD in it or a scart or hdmi connection but channels on freeview are poor. The picture is grainy. That could be compatibility issues with HD tv trying to produce a signal out of regular freeview. Either way if youve got sky or cable itll probably be fine. The resolution is great with external devices and the internal DVD player. Mine came with a single dead pixel from the start *unfortunately* but its not visible until the screen goes darker in that area. The picture looked really funny when I got the TV but as soon as you go in to the settings and have a play you can make it look nice.

SOUND. As with most super slim TVs its absolutely abysmal. Im a music porducer so perhaps Ive got a bit more of a keen ear than Joe Bloggs from the street but its tinny and fires sound off in all sorts of directions. Sometimes it causes a cool surround sound effect due to the acoustics in my room. Plug it in to a stereo or some monitors and the jobs a goodn but dont bother messing around with the EQ settings on the TV. ESPECIALLY THE BASS. The two bass EQ sliders it has distort when the levels are turned anything past 2 clicks and the speakers arent all that great to start with so you dont want to go blowing them. My advice = if you want good sound quality with any slim tv get external speakers.

GENERAL. Although Ive slated this TV a fair amount up there its 140 pounds delivered. The screen is very good *minus the dead pixels* and its quite the bargain. The DVD player is a bit noisey.

DONT BE TRICKED in to thinking that this is a Samsung TV. The screen is the same as youd find in one of the Samsung TV range but it is not Samsung. In fact it lacks any sort of branding at all. That doesnt bother me but just a hint.

BUY IT.

The Jury is still out !!!

Advert description states manufacturer as UMC, the box and label on back of TV state the make as AGORA, when the TV is held at a certain angle the make LUXOR is visable but seems to have been rubbed off or removed from the bottom centre of the TV.
Another reviewer (Lucky64) states that he has the TV on maximum tilt.
The TV delivered to me has no mechanism to tilt the TV.
Basically I have not received the TV that I thought I would (a 'UMC' as stated, that had a tilt facility for better viewing angle).
However, I am fully aware that whichever make of TV is sent will be budget entry level.
The delivery time was excellent, no complaints at all.
I have switched the TV on, it works, the dvd is quite slow in accepting and ejecting DVDs, but the player does work. I have yet to try the usb function or any others.
I have given this TV 3 stars, as it is, as yet ,not fully tested.
The make of TV is very misleading.
No tilt facility (different to review).
Delivery was excellent and the TV seems to work ok.
Time will tell, the Jury is still out.

Great TV for the price - would definitely recommend!

A great little TV for the price! Would definitely recommend!

Bought it for the bedroom and is doing me proud. Picture quality is great - even connected it up to a Freeview HD box, but could barely notice the difference, so just stuck with the standard definition and the ease of one remote.

Very easy to set up and found all channels instantly.

Would give it 5 stars, but comes with the following bad points:
- Sound's a little tinny
- No off button on the TV itself, so must turn off at mains
- So far I haven't been able to get it to record to USB. Have tried updating the software but to no avail. To be fair, the TV doesn't claim to do this, it's just the reviews which say it does. Would be great if I could get it to work though!

Would definitely buy another one!

It is quite a nice all round TV. Although the buttons on the remote control are a bit small.

I will certainly be buying another one, value for money.

I wanted just a basic TV but i got more than I bargain for at that price.

The television as all the features that I wanted and is as described. I have only set it up today, but it looks good to me.
Certainly couldn't get it cheaper anywhere. A real good buy!

  Nice budget set

Nice set so far, got caught out as i thought i was buying a samsung tele, not a budget brand with a samsung screen, still i like the freeview guide and the dvd is neatly placed. Had a couple of niggles including a prob with resuming dvds, still for this price i'm not gonna complain.
