  Terrible support from Sony

Sony screwed up the firmware on this PVR by an OTA update. many thousands of HD recorders are now 'bricks' or 'doorstops'
Many thanks to play.com for allowing me to return the 'brick' and giving me an immediate refund.
Sony wanted me to take the unit to one of its repair centers and wait 7 days before they could look at the unit. No guarantee that they could 'un-brick' it :(

  Became faulty after 2 months

This item has become faulty in the last few weeks after working well for 2 months. The TV picture using HDMI output freezes or breaks up, and the sound is often out of sync with the picture. I have tried using my digital TV with its own aerial signal and this works fine, as does my old hard-disk recorder. I have checked the aerial signal strength and quality and this is good. I have tried resetting the recorder and replugging the HDMI cable but this has not corrected the problems with the HDMI output.
