Purchased this TV to upgrade from my old Samsung 32" LCD flat screen and have been thoroughly impressed.
The good points:
+ First of all the build quality, the stand is made of metal, whilst that adds quite a bit to the weight of the unit and it is certainly an improvement on the plastic stand that came with the Samsung TV. It feels sturdy and the TV rotates 20 degrees to either side. The instructions to assemble and attach the stand weren't fantastic and I think I may have done something wrong as I am not able to tilt the TV.
+ The picture quality is fantastic, ONLY once you start playing about with many settings that are there. I must say I've spent quite a while tinkering with the setting and yet to find the optimal for normal TV viewing. The HD channels look spectacular, whilst the normal freeview is okay.
* Note that there are a lot of settings to configure, and whilst the initial set up only took about 5 minutes, it did took a while to configure it to suit my needs.
+ Design, it looks fantastic. Really slim, considering it's not a full-on LED TV and for this price you'll struggle to find a better looking TV set.
Now onto the bad points:
- It doesn't come with the 5 year warranty that is advertised on the Sony website.
- Whilst it is 3D and Internet ready, note that you will need to purchase accessories to access these features. You may well end up spending 300-500quid on accessories alone if you want to take full advantage of the Sony product.
- Requires a firmware update to get features such as Skype, that you will have to download from SONY website onto a portable drive (such as USB) and then onto your TV set.
Overall:
Excellent TV, with a good picture and a great price and a bundle of features like browsing the internet, making Skype calls, recording your favourite TV programmes, etc.
Unfortunately you will have to buy a LAN adapter to hook it up (wirelessly) to the internet. You will need a Sony Skype camera to use Skype. You will require Sony 3D transmitter and the 3D glasses as well as a 3D blu-ray player/PS3 or access to Sky 3D service to watch 3D content.
*Please note - that I haven't been able to test out the Internet features or the 3D capabilities of this set yet.
