Good Value but a bit limited

I got this so my old mum would be able to record her Corrie come September.

As a Freeview box it is reasonably good and fairly easy to set up - the remote is a bit on the small side but works well with the plug in IR receiver placed somewhere convenient.

Picture quality is pretty much the same as other Freeview SD boxes I have seen - although the tuning was simple, it missed BBC3 and BBC4 because they weren't transmitting - needed to retune after 7pm.

The recording function will give 12 hours onto a 16Gig pen drive - I use a USB micro drive which is not much bigger than the USB plug itself.

Recording is simply a matter of pressing the record button on the remote to start recording the current channel, playback and program delete functions are a bit fiddly, but work well.

Timer recording works, but I can only get it to record ONCE - setting it to record DAILY just gets you one recording before the recorder resets itself to from DAILY to OFF.

TEXT button does nothing at all - but I can live with that.

For the money there is no contest - it beats PVR HDD boxes, which seem to start at around GBP 100 minimum.

Nice for viewing freeview but flakey recording function

Great for watching Freeview but the timer recorder is fiddly to set up and very flakey. Recording programmes live works OK. When the timer recorder is set, however, it the unit freezes if it is put into standby which requires the unit to be unplugged from the power before it will work again. The daily timer recorder will only record the first day. I had the first unit replaced to try to solve this but the replacement unit is just the same. Technical support are unable to fix the problem. Also the Antenna Out only works when the unit is switched on and not when it is in standby (the Antenna Out did not work at all on the replaced unit). All in all, it is pretty good as a freeview tuner but don't rely on it to timer record a programme unless you always keep the unit out of standby and you don't want to record the programme more than once.

 Excellent Value and Device

I purchased for our bedroom as this is an analogue LCD. We already have SKY to this TV but also wanted FreeView, connected SKY magic eye (via booster/junction box in loft) to device then device to LCD screen, works a treat. Excellent picture and all FreeView channels available. For anyone interested, I use channel 6 on TV for SKY and FreeView on AV Source....really recommend this product!!!

 Brilliant

I have used this brilliant little gadget to replace an old set top box that was not performing well following the digital changeover. This little gadget performs really well with good quality reception and no picture or sound break up. It is tucked away behind the set, uses less cables than before. Altogether a tidy and efficient piece of kit. I am ordering another for another set.

 Brilliant Compact piece of Kit

How convenient is that?! So compact and without the need to place a separate set-top box. Tuning in was a piece of cake and the resulting Channel List and picture quality excellent. Bit of a fiddle setting timer to record on USB/SD Card but it works. Excellent value from Play.com too.

 Easy installation & Great Performance

I bought two of these, one for the kitchen TV and one for a small bedroom and both worked fine. Installation is easy and straightforward. This tiny unit can be concealed nicely behind your TV and vertually takes not space. More than enought digital channels are captured in well-defined color and picture qulaity and all features such as editing and reorganising channels, EPG interface, recording etc have all preformed well and they are user-freindly interfaced. Excellent piece of kit for such value !

I am so impressed that this tiny kit would be able to scan so many digital channels including radios and quality of pictures is great. Installation is so easy and once all connections are made as instructed , all is done to be used. Response of seven( 7) days EPG is quick and no frustration whatsoevers which I encountered from my other receiver. I have tried to record some tv programs from EPG list and all have been successfuly stored into the USB memory stick. Quite reliable product with excellent features !

Perfect device for our small wall mounted kitchen TV and small bed rooms tvs. It fitted perfectly behind scart ports of the TVs and concenaled nicely. A tiny little IR kit can be mounted neatly on anywhere close to the TVs. Once all connected, it starts scanning all digital freeview channels and takes less than 10 minutes then all are ready to be enjoyed. Capturing more digianl channels than in my old branded receive is impressive and qulaity of picture/sound is great. Even timer recording to a USB flash drive is no issues at all and I found this amazing as this little device performs lots of features such nicely. Great product and Good value for Money !
