Description

The Panasonic TH42PX60 was one of the best selling plasma TVs of all time, so its replacement had to be good. The TH42PX70 is exactly that - and more.

Using the familiar Viera picture enhancements, the Panasonic TH42PX70 has a picture that is as bright, crisp and realistic as its famous predecessor. With a contrast ratio of 10,000:1 there's certainly never a dull moment with this plasma TV.

Where the new PX70 truly moves ahead of the PX60 is in terms of 1080P High Definition signals. With Blu-ray and HD-DVD more popular than ever before, you'll be pleased to hear that the TH42PX70 has been optimised to make the most of 1080P, or Full HD, signals. With 1080P digital processing and re-mastering chip-sets, you'll always get optimum performance from your HD signals. Although the TH42PX70 is not a true Full HD 1080P TV, the onboard processors are so good that the differences may be less than you might imagine.

As you'd expect from a quality plasma TV, the TH42PX70PED has a wide range of inputs. Twin HDMI sockets handle HD sources, whilst a pair of SCART sockets and an RCA component ensure you'll get the best from analogue signals, too. For gaming fans, you'll also find a PC input - the results are fantastic in combination with the Motion Pattern Noise Reduction system.

Rounding off this stunning TV is a completely new look from its forbearer. Gone is the silver casing, to be replaced by a contemporary black one. With the frame made as slim as possible, the TH42PX70 has a more discreet appearance than ever before. Good looks combined with a better picture than ever before: the Panasonic TH42PX70 looks set to carry on the success of its predecessor: and then some!

I own a ps3 and a 360 and it works brillient

Even hook a hd laptop to it and pc games run nice and smooth there is nothing more satisfying than playing crysis on a huge screen

Ive never had any problems with it so far perfect for hd gaming and blu ray movies

The sounds crystal clear its alot better than my sony or my other panasonic hdtv would recomend it to anybody

This is a great TV, I have owned this for over a year.
I Spent 6 yrs in the TV repair trade, repaired many CRT and projection TV's and knew the electronics of these inside out.
I was waiting many years to find a replacement for the quality of picture that the CRT produced, LCD never cut it, (although better now than ever) the lack of black level, the washing out of highlights and the blur of motion always put me off.
When I saw the picture produced from Plasma's I knew it was what i had been after. They work in a similiar way to a CRT, a charge illuminating phosphors on the display.
Excellent colours, black level and no overblown highlights.
Also more forgiving of lower resolution off air pictures than LCD. Brilliant on High Res.
My recommendation is; if you are looking for smaller TV LCD is fine, for bigger TV's Plasma is far better,.
This TV is excellent value for money

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars A wonderful clear and detailed picture at a nice price!!!

Top 10 Reviewer

I find my 42inch Panasonic Plasma tv to be plenty big enough for watching films and when playing Blue-ray disc from my Panasonic DMP-BD10 the picture is absolutely tremendous. The tv is heavy and well built just as you would expect it be from Panasonic. What I do find to be fairly handy is that the stand which the tv goes on spins around and the tv comes with built in Freeview too. The stereo sound on this tv set is very good in fact sometimes I play a music dvd through the tv and I am amazed at how good it sounds. I am very pleased with this television and recommend it very highly indeed.
