  Not fit for purpose

I have an iPod Nano 3rd Generation. I didn't realise before I bought the product that not all iPods support video through the Audio Jack. My iPod doesn't support this feature rendering the product useless to me. It would have been nice, had the advertising on the page been accurate.

  Invest in better equipment

This product is fine if all you want to do is play music via your t.v.
If you want full use of your video i-pod via t.v spend that little extra and invest in an i-pod universal docking station, most dvd players and home cinema systems have a usb connection these days and is easy to install this product also comes with a remote control so you can use all your i-pod's features from the comfort of your own armchair.
This is a far better option than a cheap plug in lead.

  Bargain at £8?

If this cable only provides audio, other retailers do suitable cables for £1.99 and if you look around you can pick them up for 50p. Without the video, £8 is not a bargain at all. I've not bought this item - would only consider it if it provided audio AND video out of my iPod Nano Video (3G), which it doesn't appear to do...

To put the record straight, before you order

Mine arrived today and here's my verdict:

This is a high quality cable and supports audio on all iPods.

I own an iPod touch - and it doesn't support video on that model. This is not the cable manufacturers fault - but the product desc. should be updated on this site.

The product description should say that this cable only supports video on the following iPod models (from the cable docs):
iPod with colour display 20GB, 30GB - U2 Special edition
iPod with colour display 40GB, 60GB
iPod Nano
iPod Video

The video quality is great (I have tried it on my freinds iPod video) - but if audio is all you need then this is still a bargain for 8 quid.

I hope this helps sort out any confusion !

  Not for Nano (3G)

| | See all Sickboy509's reviews (12)

For the price this is still fab! however, I have a nano 3rd Gen and unless I am doing something wrong (Quite possible) I cannot get pictures or Video via my TV, It does give sound via your TV. It also gives very clear sound through my stereo I have an old system and it gives a great stereo sound! well worth the money, if not just for connecting to the stereo!!!

  No Video

I Bought this product on the strength of other reviews and ive found that i cant use this product to watch video, the music works fine but as soon as i try to watch a film the ipod just says "please use video connection" i've changed and re-changed my setting and i cant get it to work even after trying it connected to a scart adaptor! its a good product but flawed!

No Video on an ipod touch

Sound works but there is no video when used with an ipod touch. I think you might need to use one of the apple dock connectors to get video.

Unlike mentioned by the previous reviewer, you can use the cable just to play your music. I used it on both a hifi and a tv - you just have to make sure you are on the correct AV channel. Well worth £8 if you have an ipod.

  Not bad for the price

Considering it's only £8 you can't expect miracles.
Video works ok, so do the pictures, but is it just me or can you not just use it to play music!?! U have to have a slideshow running in order to listen to music?!? I was expecting to see the menu's onscreen but this is not the case, just blank screen and no sound until you're running a video or photo slideshow.
I have a 30gb video ipod, with update software. hope this helps!!!

  Not for iPod Classic

Works fine with iPod 5G, but don't bother if you have the Classic. Perhaps the description for this item needs changing.
