5 First impression? Excellent !DiddyDad | 28/01/2008 | See all DiddyDad's reviews (1)It's only been out of the box for a couple of hours, but based on first impressions this ticks all the right boxes. It's certainly very stylish (even more so if you switch to a theme other than Sammy); Very light, nice and small (but not stupidly so). I particularly like the fact that the touch controls are not on the screen (unlike the cheap player I have). It's a birthday present for my wife and this will be her first MP3 player, she's a bit of a technophobe but I'm sure with a little tuition she'll pick it up in no time. One of my criteria is the sleep function, switch off after 30 minutes of playing (rather like your bedside clock radio), this will allow it to be plugged into one of those pillows with built-in speaker (another present - and a great companion).Suprisingly good video playback - not that I could imagine watch a movie on such a small screen. Videos do have to be converted to SVI (Samsung format), I've not yet tried out the convertion so can't comment on how good this is.Radio reception is poor in my house, but that's also true for other similar devices - I'm sure it will be fine outside. The supplied Media Studio software is easy to use, but you have the option of using alternatives (Media Player, Winamp etc.) or just Windows Explorer.A nice touch is that it can display Cover Art if the ID3 tags include such information. The device supports Bluetooth, but it appears this is only for headphones - it would have been nice to be able to transfer pictures, videos etc. from a mobile; but this doesn't appear to be the case.As I say, all this is based on first impressions, but I wouldn't be suprised if I end up buying another one for myself. Certainly if the 30 hour charge life is anywhere near true.In summary, a quality device - and you don't pay the image premium you would for an iPod. I'd recommend it to anyone.
