Sony NWZA818B 8GB Video Walkman MP3 Player (Black)

I bought one of these last year as was chuffed to bits with it. Another specification they didnt mention on play.com was the fact you feel like you are superior to the masses who get out their chunky, forever crashing with low battery life I-Pods!

Mine got stolen and im buying the same thing again, in a year nothing better has come out that would suit me more!

if anybody has trouble with the software when loading songs onto it, try doing it in smaller chunks, like one album at a time- i had to do this for a few days but after that i could do as many songs as i wanted in one go.

the sound quality(with the earphones supplied) is amazing, on the walkman itself it has a "virtual surround" effect, it has settings like bathroom, studio(my fav) and arena, they are all brilliant for different songs.

the only bad thing about the walkman is when you leave it at home or listen to some one elses ipod or similar device- you wont be happy with the earphones, menu, sound quality, ease of use and anything else really- the walkman is superior in every respect.

I needed to replace my Creative MP3 player and looked around the internet. Saw the reviews given by other people on this site and was a bit sceptical. However went onto CNET and saw the online review and that along with this site I asked for one for my birthday (today!!). I have to say that I am so impressed with the ease of use, just plug it into the PC and as long as you have Windows Media 11 you are away. It automatically syncs to the player.
The only downside is that you cannot listen to the player whilst uploading but thats a small issue. Very impressed with the video playback too. All in all congratulations Sony on a fantastic little box of tricks.

First off- As I have come to expect, Play.com did the business! I ordered this player late on the Tuesday afternoon and it was here first thing on Thursday morning! I just wish Play had a price match policy with the 'other' well known on-line store and then they would get all of my business! Play.com is much faster at dispatching your order and are always my first port of call when looking to buy!

The player- It's so easy to use; you just plug it in via the supplied usb cable (which also acts as the charger) and just drag and drop the folders that you want on the player! There is no need at all to use the supplied software if you don't want to.
The size of the player is great to, not too small that you can't use the buttons, yet small enough to easily slip into your shirt pocket.
A mate of mine has the ipod and he actually said he like my Sony player better! I agree with him, it looks more stylish!

The in-ear phones supplied are very good quality and sound superb; however, I use my Sennheiser PX220's as I find they are more comfortable over long periods of time! Again these combined with the player produce superb sound.

Battery life- FANTASTIC! The first day I took it to work I played a load of albums, when I got home I went to charge the player up...I didn't need to, it was still showing a full battery!

You have a choice of EQ setting on the player which are- None, Heavy, Pop, Jazz, Unique and two Custom ones which you can edit to your own taste.

The video playback is also good considering the size of the screen; I found the easiest way to convert video was by using SuperC with a video scale size of 320:240 and an aspect ratio of 4:3, you can alter the other setting to change the end file size.

The player has an auto standby mode (to save power) if you pause or stop the player, after about 25 second it shuts itself down, as soon as you touch any button it immediately start back up where you left off.

I think that people on here that try to put this excellent player down are just disgruntled ipod owners who wish they had bought this player instead of their more expensive ipods!!!

I had the old 4Gig version that was tied to using Attrac and Sonic Stage from Sony. This player is even better as you can just drag and drop to Windows Media Player 11 (included) and "hey presto". The video quality is fantastic and the sound just blows you away!!! In my opinion the new Sony Walkmans' are far better then the Ipod Nano. At this price you'd be silly not to try it!

Apple can say goodbye because this mp3/4 player is ledendary! The music is of such good quality with the in ear earphones!
However dont be fooled by the salesman saying you can put dvds on it, you have to get a whole load of kit before u can finally put vids on it which is incredibly difficult

Easily beats anything i-pod can throw at it
