I recently purchased a pair of the SE110 earphones. I did have a pair of the E2c's but gave them to my g/f (she nagged me for them!)
I did a lot of research before buying these and tried out a few different models. The SE110's are far superior to the Bose Tri-Port earphones which I think cost about the same.
I tried the Bose and although they look good they do not isolate like the Shure e/p's and just feel 'loose' and the sound isn't as accurate if that makes sense.
Fortunately the staff at the shop allowed me to try both sets on a Creative Zen before buying and I could listen to different types of music. The SE110's were best across the range by far.
Top e/p's then from Shure (I just hope my g/f doesn't get hold of them :) )
These earphones give a warm and even sound, with crisp highs and defined lows. The bass isn't especially powerful but it is satisfactory for an earphone. The phones seem extremely solidly built, with a thick, tough cable and sturdy plastic. Comfort is an issue, however. Even though the phones come with 6 pairs of ear buds to choose from (3 sets are rubber, 3 are a foamy material) the jump from the small to medium size buds is insignificant, and the jump from medium to large is too great. I found the medium buds were too slightly too small to be fully secure in my ear, and the bigger size was uncomfortable. This is the only flaw I have found with the headphones - I bought them when they were on special offer for £18, and I would have happily paid the full £50 if I could afford it!
I bought these as a back up for my EC2's (the SE110's were on special offer) and am pretty impressed. They sound better but drop a mark as the cable is a lot thinner and doesn't give the impression of durability that the EC2's had.
These earphones are built incredibly solidly and are very comfortable to wear. Sadly the the sound quality is only so so. To my ears the music sounds closed in with little treble detail. The sennheiser cx300s I've been using for 2 years are better. The shures are still superior than the regular iPod earphones but you can do better even for £20.
Too much bass, good mid's lacking in top frequencies. My previous Shure e2c's were better. I'd recommend going for the next price bracket up for sound quality.
