Got this on a deal of the day for our little girl who is nearly 3, stops her using the main tv and has been used in the car. Easy to use, although have only played DVD's on it. Can be a bit noisy when starting up but for our needs it is ideal and cost a lot less than a pink peppa pig one!

  It's region free!

I managed to nab this player during one of Play's "Deal of the Days" at 30 pounds which is the cheapest I've ever seen for a portable DVD player.

I own several region 1 DVD's which I was doubtful would work on the player as region locking is standard for most consumer players. There are ways around this via code input methods for most makes though. As I was unlucky in finding such a code for this player I expected the normal situation that it would play regular region 2 (UK/European) discs.

Alas upon curiously trying some region 1 DVD's they worked! So essentially the player is region free as default!

With that out of the way the player can be a little noisy when it is reading discs. Playback performance seems to work well even at uneven angles or moving the player around as it should do for a portable, there seemed to be no signs of jitter.

Haven't had much luck with a USB dongle, currently tried it to see what luck it would have with playing back MP4 files as it states is supported. While the device was detected with FAT32 only it didn't have much luck when trying to play the videos back stating that the particular MP4 codec wasn't supported. However this is something I didn't expect it to be amazing with.

It does feel light and cheapy especially with the press of the buttons on the player itself so it will be interesting to see how well this lasts. For the price though it delivers well!

old tech in a way, low resolution screen by tablet standards, but everyone is familiar with the dvd format, this also has usb port and card slot, comes in a box with all extra leads, 2 sets of headphones, etc, remote control is the only way to adjust volume on the unit ! but over all, a good buy
