The A735 is big on features and value, but comes in a slim, trim casing. Its 25mm body contains a 3x optical zoom, 4.5x digital zoom and a 2.5" LCD screen as well as a host of advanced features such as smile detection, blink detection, face detection and in-camera panorama stitching.

Megapixels:
A megapixel (one million pixels) is a unit of image-sensing capacity in a digital camera. A pixel - shorthand for "picture element" - is the basic unit of programmable color on a computer display or in a computer image. In general, the more megapixels in a camera, the better the resolution when making larger prints.

diagram

Optical Zoom:
When the button is pushed to zoom in or out, physical lens elements move inside the camera to achieve the desired effect. Optical zoom lenses actually "move" you closer to the subject of the photograph. The higher the optical zoom rating on a camera, the farther away you can be to take a photograph and still get a clear, close-up image.

diagram

LCD Screen:
Digital cameras use the LCD screen as a viewfinder by providing a live video feed of the scene to be captured. The LCDs normally measure between 1.5" and 2.5" diagonally (our LCDs measure 2.5 to 3 inches).

Standard on many of our cameras, Auto Adjust Brightness automatically adjusts the camera's LCD viewing screen to the existing lighting conditions. No more struggling to see the LCD in bright sunlight; the camera will adjust it so you can frame your picture properly.

diagram

Image Stabilisation:
Image Stabilization automatically overcomes shaking or blurring caused by accidental hand movement, helping you take clearer, sharper pictures.

diagram

Face Detection
The camera detects faces in a scene and then automatically focuses and optimizes exposure for them. This technology helps when taking pictures of large groups, when a person is in the distance or when the subject moves into the frame.

diagram

Smile:
The camera's sensor detects when subjects are smiling and releases the shutter automatically when the smiles reach their peek. No more battling shutter lag times to get the perfect picture.

diagram

Blink Detection:
If subjects blink as a photo is snapped, the camera alerts the user afterwards. This allows the photo to be immediately retaken.

diagram

High ISO
ISO denotes how sensitive the image sensor is to the amount of light present. The higher the ISO, the more sensitive the image sensor, which means improved ability to take pictures in low-light situations.

diagram

In-Camera Panorama Stitching
Allows for the creation of ultra-wide panoramic shots. Wide-view photos are produced by stitching three images into a single panoramic picture, providing an image that is wider than would be possible with a standard lens.

 Excellent Value

Bought this camera on Sunday 29th June and arrived on Tues 1st July. I've just noticed the price has gone up, got it for a steal at £49.99. I've not heard of GE making camera's but decided to look around the net to find some review. They all gave the camera five stars and I can see why. A 7.0 megapixal camera with all these features. It's comfortable in the hand, easy to use out of the box. The LCD screen is clear and large. Lots of leads to connect to the PC or TV. I've taken a few photo's and the face detection is the standout point. A must buy if there is any still available.

 Brilliant @ great price

I am, myself a Professional Photographer and i have many digital cameras both manual and auto. This camera is a small, fun, out going piece of equipment which produces good photographs.
I would recommend it to anyone who wanted a cheap camera for holiday shots, outdoor use and parties.
Not recommended for professional use but overall a good little camera that serves its purpose.

 Great Price

I wasn't sure wether to go ahead and purchase this camera as i thought at the price it would feel cheap, look cheap and take cheap looking photos. I'm glad i did finally purchase it as the feel and look of the camera is very good, the menu system is very easy to use and it takes okay looking photos. For the price the photo quality is good. This is my first digital camera and even if i only use it for one year it'll be great value. The only negative side is a reported problem with the battery level indicator on some cameras, you put in brand new batteries and it shows up as 'batteries exhausted'. This problem is mentioned on the website and has an update for the operating system for the camera to rectify this on their website.

Two faulty so far- known problem!

A nice camera - when it works! This model has a known fault (shame I did not know it before I bought it) that causes the camera to display 'Warning, battery exhausted'. My advice, avoid, I am sending the second one back tomorrow.
