Sony STR- DA2400 ES 7.1 Channel Receiver (Black)

I researched long and hard before deciding on this amp. At the price i feel it can't be beaten. I have a 5.1 mission speaker set up including active subwoofer. The difference between my old system (denon 1507) and this is outstanding. The dialogue is more detailed and clearer, the bass is cleaner and has more attack, and the overall soundstage is much more clearly defined.
I run a ps3, sky hd and sony dvd recorder through hdmi and wii via component. The picture is even better, but this may more to do with upgrading the hdmi cables.
Overall, i would strongly recommend this amp, its awesome!!

Easily the best priced quality AV receiver on the market. Recently upgraded to this and the sound and 1080P upscaling is fantastic, lots of inputs, sleek quality build. Excellent with a PS3 and a Sony 1080P LCD TV as it also has Bravia Sync. Look no further....

There are three receivers people normally debate at this price point, the onkyo 606, the denon 1909 and this. Having researched all three this amp comes out on top. It has all the connections required for a home av system, is easy to set up if you follow the intructions to the letter and sounds excellent. I have it set up in 7.1 from a ps3 and the sound is clear and detailed. I also have sky hd through optical for 5.1 dd (has latest firmware), dvd through coax, ps3 though hdmi and wii. A strong av amp and good value for money.

I ordered this as my 12 year old Sony receiver was beginning to show it's age.

This had all the features I was looking for and I thought it was very well priced for an Excellence Standard receiver.

There are plenty of inputs and it comes with an auto calibration gadget (which I didn't use as I'm a bit of a geek and like doing that kind of stuff myself!).

It comes with a remote commander which can be programmed to operate non Sony equipment, and a simplified remote control that does the basics.

It does a good job of converting 5.1 signals into 7.1 and the Multi Stereo option makes the most of your music.

Well worthy of 5 stars.

If I didn't have one of these already in Silver, I would have bitten Play.com's hand off for one.

This is, quite simply, the best AV receiver you will ever get for 200 quid. Mark my words, upscaling to HDMI and Component, full 7.1 support. In fact, I wonder if my mum "needs" one???
