Sennheiser HD 595 Open Headphones

Few key facts that you must know if you intend to buy these headphones.

Sound gets in from the outside, including planes, trains and automobiles and screaming kids. Also sound escapes from these too making them extremely unsuitable for public transport.

The jack on these is a 1/4 inch jack with an adaptor to connect to a 3.5mm. This may limit it's portability as all major MP3 players utilize the 3.5mm jack.

None of these caveats matter however as these headphones sound like the bee's knees. Sure you can get better headphones for more money, and other headphones might have a different sound signiture for a different type of music, but nothing beats the sound-quality of these headphones in this price range. Compared to other Sennheisers however, these headphones sound much more 'active' and 'energetic'. Personally I think it's best with soft rock, indie pop and blues music. For hip-hop, heavy rock/metal the similarly priced Grado SR-60's would fit the bill much better but it is still an extremely versatile headphone and just simply 'fun' to listen to.

The design of the earcups is circumaural, meaning that it sits around your ear as opposed to ontop of it. The headband is extremely comfortable and expands outwards where the headband changes from light to dark. The cable is quite thick and attaches to the left cup and the pads are a soft velour material which are removable and replacable. The cable however is not replacable, at least not without downloading German instructions.

For the price, you simply cannot find anything that sounds better. However if you want a portable headphone I'd either look at the HD-25-1 for a full-sized headphone or at the Shure SE series if you want an earphone. Both of which offer much higher isolation. For home listening, the 595 wins hands down!

First things first; what a brilliant pair of headphones. I have burnt them in now for about 100 hours and they just sound fantastic. Highs, lows, mids, bass - it has it all covered. Soundstage is insane. Gaming, music and films are all a joy. Well and truly replaced my Bose, these headphones are in a league of their own compared to them.
Got them while Play were selling them for 70 quid last week, so the value is brilliant.

I recieved these headphones as a birthday present from the wife, what a fantastic present they are the sound is just phenomenal! the clarity is almost unbelievable and i guarantee you will hear things in your favourite tracks which you've never heard before.

the phones themselves are really comfy and for those of you who like me wear specs after a few minuites you'll wonder why other manufacturers cant make headphones that are usable with specs on.
i honestly cant recommend these highly enough, and at plays price their a steal!

I got to say I have heard sounds from Grado and Bose, nothing I mean nothing compares to these 595's Mind you I have not heard the 600 series. But 69.99 are you kidding im thinking of buying 10 more at this price.. I love play.com. ordered on the 30 december, here on the 3rd. thanks guys another wicked buy.. Check out those cans !!

I,ve had mine for a week now from play.com and thier the best headphones I,ve ever had.

Very comfortable, brilliant soundstage, extremely detailed sound and the bass is very good and natrual.

The included headphone stand is a nice feature too :)
