Most of all Hollywood movies are shot at 24 frames per second, and Blu-ray Disc movies are mastered at 24 frame per second, so it is only fitting that the Sony Blu-ray Disc Players can output your films at 1080/24p for a true film-like experience at home. Of course, Sony Blu-ray Disc Players can also output at 1080/60p for more traditional HDTV sets on the market. Either way Sony has you covered for the best picture possible in Full 1080p!

Precision Cinema HD Upscale
Precision Cinema HD upscale uses high bandwidth digital-to-analog conversion and processing to detect image changes at the pixel level, rather than at the level of whole scan lines.  The future has arrived and it's Blu!

This machine is worth the investment. It's got it functionality and it's stylish. The BDP-S350 is relatively easy to use. After set up it's just like using a DVD player. The menu screen is simple and so easy to navigate that your Nan could use it. It is the same GUI as the one used on both the PSP and PS3.

Set-up involves connecting the device via Ethernet cable ( although you can purchase a wireless device to obtain updates). Additional memory is required in the form of a 'MicroVault Tiny 1Gh'. This can be purchased for less than £10. This is essential if you wish to use BD Live. The Memory plugs into the back of the machine in the Ext. Memory slot.

Picture and sound quality are as you would expect from next Gen. equipment. Its clear, crisp and very detailed.

The machine itself is whisper quiet and in 'Quick Start' mode boots up in 6 seconds. Although it does take additional time to read and load the media in the drive.

Bravia Theatre Sync enabled allows you to programme the BD to turn off with the TV's sleep timer function. BONUS!

Power consumption has been reduced for this model over its predecessor the BDP-S300. In some modes the consumption has been reduced by up to 55%, thus allowing you to reduce both your running costs and your carbon footprint.

Well done Sony this machine is well thought out and performs well. This Player runs in both 24p and 60Hertz therefore no need to worry over whether your TV supports the former format.

The only drawback I can see at present is that due to the clarity of the sound you do need to turn up the volume a lot. But hey you'll get use to it, you did with the VHS to DVD switchover.

I recommend anyone purchase this machine. But feel upgrading from the BDP-S300 is a waste of time and money. Best waiting for the BDP-S550 to be released in those circumstances as it comes with a beautiful backlit remote control and 1Gh of storage. Plus it'll be pre-installed with BD-Live software allowing you to take advantage of its extra functionality from the get go. Enjoy.

 great for the price

I bought this as it is the latest Sony model and for the money is all you need for getting your Blurays on to your HD tv. Yes you can spend more money on a slightly better spec player but if you have the chance to see them playing side by side there is very little difference in the picture quality. So picture 10-10 sound 9-10. If you have a modern flat screen tv, Grab One as you will be amazed by the picture detail and if you also have a modern surround amp be prepared to be blown out of your seat if you crank the volume up. As long as you have a HDMI TV & Amp you are in for a fantastic treat. The two free films that you get when you register your player with Sony on line are the icing on the cake. Enjoy.

 Just keeps getting better

Managed to replace my BDP-S300 with this little beauty! The 300 is a good machine, don't get me wrong. But if you want full use of your Blu Ray titles like Bonus View and Blu Live then this is definately the one to get. Smaller and quicker than the 300, this is well worth the extra £50

Excellent blu ray player shame about the free gift

No problems with the player but would just like to warn people that you will not receive your free James Bond disc if like me you fail to click on 'add free offer' underneath the blu ray player on the order screen.
I would have thought that you would receive a so called free gift automaticly and would not have to order it.

If price, simplicity, value are important. LOOK NO FURTHER

I um'ed and rr'ed about bluray for sometime, reading reviews, checking prices and then finally bought this sony for my birthday present from my wife!!!!
All I can say is FANTASTIC, worth every penny, definately improves existing dvd collection, and bluray is great for the right sort of movie. James Bond/ Mama Mia etc...
One thing to watch out, and I'm glad a previous reviewer had mentioned it before I ordered mine, YOU MUST ORDER THE OFFER BLURAY DISC SEPERATELY, OTHERWISE YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE IT. I very nearly made the mistake and would have lost out on Quantum of Solice.
