This blu-ray player is excellent piece of machinery! For starters the price is a rip-off (bought mine about year ago in a sony store for a 130 pounds and wasnt a sale price but a exact model price, so play.com need to drop that price now) The player setup when on is simple enter your time, date and you setup is up and then go through the screen menus using your remote which is excellent to! This player does 720p,1080i,1080p and the quality is nothing short of excellent, the sound adjusting to remember is your tv not player and the colour can be toned down to your liking! The remote is also well laid out and very easy to use but at this price im sure you could buy it cheaper but for excellence in blu-ray look no further than this sony model!

still looks and plays good 18 months later

bought this unit in may 2009,now after a fare bit of use is still a top end player, now looks a bit large against the latest models, but the blue colouring of metal surround makes it stand out from the crowd, multi region on dvd,but plays abc and region free from the usa,so no need to upgrade to region a for blu ray disc`s,as most us disc`s are playable anywhere, have heared you may have to upgrade firmware, but my unit no problem, plays any thing you throw at it,worth seeking out if any are left for sale, who needs all the bd live gismo`s,you just need the best picture and sound, and this sony has it.

  Excellent player - disappointing service

5/5 for the player! Bought it for my girlfriend, who is a complete Luddite, and even she could set it up first time - well worth the money, excellent pic quality, bargain all round really!

But...

please, please Play.com (yes, you!) - don't make an offer if your marketing bods can't fulfil it! I bought this when it came with the £15 voucher for a blu-ray - after a month of having to phone you I still hadn't been emailed this, meaning I had to buy the second part of her birthday present myself, without a voucher. Finally got another blu-ray, the cost of which was refunded me by play.com. Guys, please don't make these offers if your marketing boys aren't on the ball in sending out the email vouchers!

Blu-ray player itself 5/5
Play.com service 3/5 (sadly, as it is usually excellent!)

  sony bdp-s350 blu-ray player

| | See all henryhappy's reviews (1)

this is a brilliant machine,i also have a sharp blu-ray player and it isn,t half the player as the sony and the sony starts in half the time.the sharp player plays 4.3 format films in 4.3 which has a 4 inch black band at each side of the picture, this cannot be changed and is unwatchable, the sony has the option to fill the screen with a film in 4.3 format which is brilliant, plus i paid £100 more for the sharp player as i bought a sharp lcd at the same time, buy the sony without thinking twice.to the person who said that the one for all remote will not sync with the sony player, yes that happened with me but i contected one for all and they sent the code for this player over the net to my remote control and it worked straight away with out any problems,it was very simple, hope i have helped you,

I love this player , its just great . Just wanted to mention though that the av receiver 820 is now giong to be discontinued. Have a look here on Play, There is a new receiver coming out at the end of July Sony DH-800. A little bit more expensive , but im sure for a new up to date model it will be worth it.

  A+

this player is spot on, well better watching blu-rays on this than a ps3, also advisable to get a proper hd av receiver so u can get proper audio out off films, wasnt getting it on my ps3.
for ludgeshall i myself is using a onkyo amp+mordaunt short speaker package, plus this blu-ray player+ 47" 1080p tv of course, totalling nearly £4.000,but if want a sony amp try SONY STRDG820 ..noticed this £229.99 from richer sounds this is capable off playing hd audio..e:g TRUE HD..DTS MASTER AUDIO,+get a decent speaker package as well with it
