After 2 years of using a 2nd generation iPod Nano I decided that this new design was one that had to be bought. At £109 it is cheaper than any of the older ones ever were despite the fact that it is so much more interactive and addictive.
Perhaps the only downside is that the Music Quiz game does not feature this time around but the new introductions more than make up for it.
Genius: This is a really neat addition which I have found myself using a lot. Hold down the centre button while playing a song and it will try and find a playlist of 25 similar songs. It's not as simple as genre though, it will find songs with a similar beat, pace and match your mood.
Motion sensor: When you tip the iPod on its side, up comes Cover Flow and you can find your way through all your albums easily enough. This can be a tad annoying when lying down as sometimes it will come on by accident but I've got the hang of stopping it from doing that now. Shake the iPod for a second or two and Shuffle Songs happens. You may call it lazy but it's good to show off to your mates. ;)
Games: Klondike (Solitaire) returns along with Vortex. As I mentioned earlier, Music Quiz is gone but in comes Maze. Using the motion sensor, you tip your iPod to move around the huge amount of mazes and collect the checkpoints.
Apple have taken 1 step backward and 2 steps forward to make this iPod, reverting back to the long, narrow form but this creates space for the huge screen which has to be given plaudits for it's crystal clear display.
Of course, you also receive headphones and a PC connector in the box but I would suggest buying a case as well, wouldn't want to scratch the little beauty, would ya?
This little chunk of genius from Apple is a must for any music fan on the go.
