BeBook eBook e-Reader

This ebook reader is amazing, it can read most formats you can throw at it - it has just had a firmware update to handle mobipocket files.
The screen is very clear & looks very similar to printed paper. The only slight drawback is that the e-ink system doesnt use backlighting, so you cant see it at night unless you have a bedside light or a small battery operated booklight. The text is clear & you can change the fonts easily & quickly. There are 3 different text sizes built in so you can set the text size that suits you.

Now i've had time to use my bebook reader and got used to it after a few teething problems, I absolutely love it. It's perfect for taking to work as using public transport isn't the most exciting thing so the ebooks that I got are great for killing time on the bus to work, heard some people say when changing pages or loading books it's slow, not that you'd notice, page turns take maximum 2 secs and not really a problem.

I would recommend this for anybody who enjoys reading but doesn't want to carry books with them as you can fit over a 1,000 books on this and also the ability to add 4gb SD card and music makes it a high quality product.

A clear and easy to read electronic reader but it has had a few teething problems with firmware and confusion with what can be downloaded, and read and what cannot. I suggest reading the forum on Be Books site. Not the complete product, but it is new technology.

After spending a month checking out the competition I finally decided the BeBook One was my best choice (lots of formats, active forum groups and a 6" screen). So I knew what to expect.

What I did not expect was how quickly I adapted to reading on the device and how "easy" it is on the eyes.

I would warn buyers that the first (uninterrupted) charge takes about 14 hours. The device charges via a USB lead so get a good quality USB mains adapter plug to save running your PC to charge it. However subsequent charges take far less time (after reading 1600 pages I charged the device back to full in 54 minutes). Also when connected to a power supply the device cannot be switched off, you can only lock the keys. It should be noted that most forum users never switch the device off, as with the keys locked it uses no power anyway and the screen does not suffer from burn-in.

I can honestly say I am 100% happy with the product and the friendly forum (and quick response to 'noob' questions) is a bonus.

I received my BeBook about 10 days ago and am very pleased with it.. The screen is very good and as it is not backlit does not tire your eyes.
It comes with a leather cover and a free wall charger and USB cable. Supports around 23 formats using open source technology which is very important. as it can save you money on books

I have charged mine from a wall charger and gave it its first charge for 14 hours. This appears to condition the battery for future use. Having added 70 books and using it every day, the battery indicator is still showing maximum charge. If you are considering giving the Bebook its first charge from a laptop or PC using the USB cable, ensure that your PC does not 'go to sleep' after a given time otherwise you will not get a full battery charge.

While the time taken to turn a page is quite acceptable, future models would benefit from increased speed..

Overall, I would give it 9/10 for a good reading experience.
