Simply sexy. The brand new Sony MP3 WALKMAN is the most cutting-edge yet, combining high-end design with ease-of-use and advanced functionality which seriously upgrades your listening experience.
It arrives in two sizes: the 20GB NW-A3000 has space for up to 13,000 songs with up to 35 hours battery life. The 6GB NW-A1000, has space for up to 4,000 songs with up to 20 hours battery life. Both are made from a futuristic translucent material, sexy to the touch and gorgeous to look at in all its various incarnations: the 20GB comes in violet and silver, the 6GB in violet, silver, pink and blue. And, of course, even the headphones are colour coordinated.
As it comes to life, the luminescent Organic EL display lightens up. The three buttons make operating the player a cinch. Naturally, because it's a Sony, the audio quality is impeccable.
Futuristic functionality. Whether you've owned an MP3 player before or you're new to them, you'll find the new WALKMAN so simple to use.
Just like a mobile phone, the display features nine navigational icons on the home menu from which you can manoeuvre up, down, left and right to search, shuffle and access all your favourite tracks.
The search method is much simpler to use than other players as it's easy to jump straight to the artist, album or song via their initials, rather than scrolling up and down a long list.
Audio intelligence. The WALKMAN features a revolutionary new ARTIST LINK function. This means that if you're listening to an artist or track and you press the artist link button the new WALKMAN will search, find and display similar artists in that genre.
What's more, you can also choose how to `shuffle'. By selecting `My Favourite Shuffle', the device automatically selects the most listened to 100 songs and plays them at random. The `Time Machine Shuffle' function randomly selects a year and plays all of the songs from that particular year that are currently held on the device.

good mp3 player but...

it has many faults aswell, for starters the battery life is awful, if i got anywhere near 35 hours i would be very happy, at the moment its about 6 hours with a lot of battery saving options in place. 13000 songs is ridiculous, i have put about 1200 on it so far using the correct software and it has filled 10gb so i wont even get 3000 on there.
But i cant get anymore songs on there whatsoever as the software if so bad. It has suddenly started saying that my memory is full and ot letting me put anymore songs on it. Even when i re-install the software it says the same. Looking for an alternative as there is no help from sony at all.
Despite that, it has run pretty reliably with a good sound quality and no breakages.
However if i cant get the software working i will move away from sony as its very fustrating.

There were a lot of complainers about the connect software when this was released. I was one of them. It didn't work. About 2 years ago though, Sony released a new version of sonicstage that incorporates the functionality of this mp3 player.
This is now perfect. The sound is amazing, it looks great, and its holds plenty of songs. I filled this about 6 months ago and haven't bothered changing songs since. The software works great, transfer times are brilliant, easy to use and rename tracks or other tag info.
Battery life is amazing, I get well over 25 hours use out of this, even after 2 and a half years.
So the screen is two tone and doesn't play video. Its not an mp4 player, so i wouldn't expect, or want that. FAncy screens = lower battery life.
A great product, highly reccomended.
Throw away £100 buy the Sony NW-A3000
