Pure Digital VL-60896 Evoke Flow Portable DAB / FM / Internet Radio (Black)

This unit has had rave reviews, and it certainly deserves praise. It's very well made, and neatly combines an efficient Internet radio with a conventional FM and DAM, and does decent streaming to boot. It's probably the best all-in-one out there, and has good sound quality considering its size.

Its problems are mostly to do with its rather finnicky interface, very average battery life (this has to be bought separately and is a Li-Ion unit) and the fact that DAB is such a let down on any radio. The latter isn't Pure's fault, but it does mean that it is slow to switch on and very fussy about interference, all DAB problems.

If you can put up with this, Pure's Evoke Flow is worth every penny.

I am very pleased with my radio...I plugged it in and within moments I had selected my favorite radio station that I can only listen to on the internet. I now can listen to my radio where I like and can use the wi fi option to link up to my pc if needed. I am not sure why people moan about the battery, who needs one when you plug it in to your mains electric! This is a great buy

The radio is a design marvel, combining a retro piano black with a unique yellow text LCD display. After much research, no other internet capable radio could match the aesthetic requirement. I was slightly apprehensive about the lack of ethernet interface, as wireless internet has always been a shortcoming for me, however i was very suprised at how easy the device was to set up and use. Start by registering at 'thelounge.com' search for your stations and save them as favourites. register the radio, and the stations and your radio become synonymous. The device uses an innovative dial and press to enter parameters for your WEP key and general browsing. The device quickly boots up and auto logs on with all your parameters. The audio quality is heavenly, what you would expect from pure! i've ordered the additional speaker also to turn it into a full mini system. The ability to add your ipod via AUX as well as stream your MP3's via the media server makes this device the best gadget i have found in a long time. The unit itself has a 2 year warranty to put your mind at ease, should things go wrong. Ultra Uber retro cool.

I was a bit apprehensive about setting up an internet radion as so many times I have found configuring wifi to be a real pain, but this was simple and was up and running in a couple of minutes. Also impressive was the ability to set up favourites on my laptop including podcasts and listen again and then they magically appear in the favourites menu on the set! My only niggle is that when you press the select knob it is a bit stiff and the whole radio moves backwards. But I would still recommend it.
