Inov8 USB 2.0 Ultra All In One Card Reader / Writer

I purchased this after my old card reader died. The product is different from the one in the image (which is an older model, and the version I originally had). Thankfully this version separates the USB wire from the product, as that was a particular weak spot that I discovered during use on the pictured model.

The new version is much more compact, only slightly larger than a Compact Flash card, and has slots for a number of different card types. It works as expected, and has a light to show when it has power. This light also flashes during activity (such as moving files).

Definitely one of the best card readers I've used, and something I'd recommend if you have a number of different memory cards that you use on a regular basis.

  Neat card reader/writer

I wanted this to put my j.p.g images from my flash drive to my sd card via the reader so that i could view them on my new excellent Kitvision 7" photo frame (bought from play for £18.00)
I minimized my flash drive and dragged the pictures folder to my minimized sd card reader and it transferred the files first time !
Its very smart looking and has got a neat cable holder in the back too.
This product is great for me because i have no card reader on my computer and i have an array of different media cards and drives .

  OK....but

It does read the cards, though seems to need a little time. Annoyingly slow if using large RAW files from your camera, ok for medium format jpegs - if speed is something you want - look elsewhere.

I bought one of these for my auntie for a Christmas Present and was so pleased with it, I have now bought one for myself for my laptop. A good memory card reader especially for the price.

  Excellent in every way.

I received my card reader today. It's obviously a newer version than the other reviewers have received as I can confirm that mine does have an activity light. It's a blue LED and very bright. It flashes to show activity. The cable built in to the unit is indeed very short but the pack included a USB extension cable which I didn't need but is amazing value when you consider the price of the unit. The printed package doesn't list xD cards as compatible but they work fine as other reviewers have pointed out. I'm using the card reader with my Apple MacBook Pro running OS X (10.5) with no problems.

Does exactly what it says on the tin with no problem!. The only reason i gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was...i think the built in usb lead could have been longer. apart from that its all good in the hood. Dunno if there are different versions because mine has an activity light :). thanks to play for getting it here so quick b4 xmas!

Great Reader, shame there is no activity light

There is no activity light so you can't tell when windows has done with the card you put in, so make sure you right click on the drive and eject the card before removing it.

The manual isn't exactly helpful, and it took searching reviews to find out where to put an XD card (upside down in smart media slot), but for the price it does what it says.

Easily installed straight onto the spare motherboard usb 2 header and sits in the redundant floppy drive place in the computer case.

So why give it 4 out of 5? It does what it says, the point down is for no activity light.

  Excellent value.

Had this for some time now. Used it with XD, CF, SD, all ok. (XD fits upside down in a smartmedia slot). Cannot get this back from my girlfriend - very easy for technophobes! cool little integral USB. Great value - just use of adapters for mini SD etc loses 1*.
