Sony has just slaped Apple in tha face..this Walkman is by far 100 times better then tha Ipod Touch..
The touch screen is by far tha best i've ever seen and had a go on..The sound is amazing as we come to expect from Sony Walkmans they always have the best sound...tha YouTube feature is a great aswell..and quite fast..Tha WI-FI is easy to set up..tha Internet is good...but the broswer is not good at all...Sony shoulda used a better one...and you put websites in tha way you would on a phone as theres no QWERTY on screen keyboard which i find ok actully coz we all text so theres no problem doing it like that.... All in all this is by far Sonys best Walkman i'll look forward to tha updated ver' of this model..i dont expect it until 2011 or late 2010 doe... if you wanna compare like most people...
It may not have abigger screen then tha Ipod Touch but it has better resolution than the Ipod.
It looks better then tha Ipod & is Smaller then tha IpoThe internet may not be as good as tha Ipod but Ipod uses Apples own web broswer so thats why its better as it uses a proper broswer..but then again its a MP3/4 its not made for internet i spose but the Walkmans internet does work fine!!
You can trust Sony as all there products are always well built.
And a added bonus of having noise cancellation so when you listen to music you can block out any back ground noise which works great i dont know any otehr MP3/4 Player that offers that...and plus Sony added there S-master Amp in to this player which is normal in there top of tha range HI-FI's.
I've had many walkmans before and this is by far their greatest acheivement.
Touchscreen is very good and is very easy to use.
Screen resolution is breathetaking.
Youtube function is really good as you can watch videos off youtube very fast and very easy
Web browser is dissapointing, but does work well when you have the screen rotated to veiw it, bit of a pain typing the web address though......
No silly sony software needed to upload music as all you need is Media Player 11, very easy! Although, there is a software that comes with it, DON'T use it for music transfers as it is B*******!
Noise cancelling is awesome, used it in the aeroplane and blocks the sound out brilliantly, but can only be used with the supplied headphones (since it has microphones in it), but that is not bad since the headphones are of top quality.
Radio works well. There is also a podcast function on it although I never use it so cannot comment on it.
Downside compared to the previous models of the walkman is that you have to use the computer to create playlists. Also, ratings have been removed so playlists of your ratings cannot be used (unless transferred from the comp) and 'Favourite 100' is no longer there.
Overall, is it very easy to use, the resolution is great, transfer is easy, quality sound and well worth the buy. I recommend this to everyone and it's better than those iPod things as it is also much more solid!
Got this 3days after release and i feel its now time to express my feelings..
I must admit that this is no all rounder but it definitely does what it says on the tin. For starters the screen is breathtaking never have i seen a screen so colorful will on the music front it will shred any mp3 player going and this is with the standard earphones and as for video though it can only be coded to 320x240 its is fairly brilliant with no stuttering frame rate. Also the noise canceling seemed like a gimmick but after trying it on the bus it totally canceled out the loud grinding sound and it also works well in loud environments but with it being limited to the fact you are wearing the provided headphones its not the most convincing.
So why is it not an all rounder well not much really but the we browser cannot render fully blown web pages easily whilst mobile sites work perfectly fine and there is no expansion for application though this does not bother me as i have an N95 8gb full loaded with apps. Finally I think the one feature that i cannot understand its absence is an accelerometer this is now not only on the i pod touch but it is also on the cheaper nano and also features on sony ericssons mainstream models so why it does not feature on sonys flagship model leaves me blank.
But if its music videos and you tube you want there is no finer choice than this if apps and games are also on your list and you cannot live without them or you crave a high quality web browser then only look elsewhere as music just does not get better than the sony x-series.. MAGIC
This is an excellent mp3 player.
The sound quality is outstanding and the images on the OLED screen look fantastic. The wifi is fast and easy to use, and it is simple and quick to download podcasts straight to the player. The touchscreen is also very responsive and as yet has not done anything it hasn't been told to do! As always with Sony products the bundled headphones are far superior to those that come with any similar product - it's almost worth buying it for these alone!
I would highly recommend this product, especially if the quality of sound from your music player is something that is important to you.
can u watch programmes on there? i.e. any comedy programmes that are say 30mins long?
