Personally I don't care if an mp3 player has Wi-Fi or not, that isn't a selling feature for me. I sold my 3rd gen iPod touch to get this and I am glad that I did.
Reasons I bought this and sold my new iPod.
1) Don't need iTunes to use it, hooray!
2) Can use it as a backup flash drive
3) Has a radio
4) Battery seems to last longer (running games on iPod will kill battery life)
5) Much cheaper
6) May have a slightly smaller screen, but video looks much much better.
7) Doesn't get very hot like the iPod
8) Software provided is a lot better and faster
9) Firmware updates take less time.
The best alternative to an iPod, I am so glad I got this I'm actually smilling as I type!!
To cut a long story short, the new Samsung P3 is fantastic. Sound quality is amazing, the latest firmware is fast and fun, video support is excellent (just drag n drop, no conversion needed for most files, including h.264!) Bluetooth pairs with your phone or speakers / headphones, there is a customizable EQ and quite a few other little bonus features.
Ok, it doesn't have WiFi (Sony X1000) Widgets (Ipod Touch) or huge battery life (Cowon S9) but it is substantially cheaper than all those players. In fact you can pick up a 32gb on pre-order for only a few quid more than a 16gb iPod Nano! And when you compare to the features of the P3 to the Nano, it blows it out of the water.
Think of it as a true next gen player at an iPod Nano price.
I purchased this mp3 player for my partners birthday, and I have to say, I'm really impressed. I've never wanted an mp3 player, but had a go on this one and it is fab. Picture and sound quality is excellent!! I now want one for myself.
Wow. I love it. Once you get used to being gentle with the fingers its great. Colour screen. Bluetooth. Radio. What more could you want? Better than the ipod? I think so!!!
Anyone has any clue when the 32gb version comes out. Never ever ordered anything from play.com so any warranty on the Samsung P3???
