The Sumvision M18 is a no nonsense budget flash based MP3 player. The perfect MP3 player for the beginner or those looking for a value alternative to the big name brands, the Sumvision has all of the key bases covered.
Supplied in a choice of product casing colours, the Sumvision looks stylish yet understated. The player requires only 1 x AAA size battery which will last for around 6 - 8 hours of music playback. Multi-codec support (MP3 and WMA) along with an easy to read 33 x 96 pixel LCD screen with frontlight are also included as standard. The player's lightning fast USB 2.0 connection (backwards compatible with USB 1.1 too) means that you can transfer your favourite tunes in seconds. With a removable disk drive connection - it's a simple case of dragging and dropping tracks to the player's memory when it's connected to your PC.
The SumVision M18 adds to the feature set of previous versions of the player with a built in FM tuner and voice recorder. Great for recording lectures or business meetings, the SumVision M18 has a wide range of features for such a small price. The manufacturer has also managed to squeeze in a sleep timer.
Since the player only weights 40g, the included necklace style earphones make hanging the player round your neck a simple task. The player's small size means that it fits perfectly into most pockets.
A solidly constructed player at a great value price.

 Cheap but reliable

This particular design of MP3 player is usually cheap to buy, but can be dodgy in production quality. I've bought two Sumvision M18s and am very pleased how well they play and survive day-to-day battering.

Ideal for those, like me, who like battery powered players so we can slap in a new battery when they run down, rather than wait to get home to charge them from the mains.

 okay for the price

Good for a cheap player ready for festival season. AAA replacable means no need for recharging. (I bought it dfor bloodstock fest)

Good points:
Excellent quality sound (in your own headphones/speakers
Good options for random play
Easy to put songs on, no drivers needed to install, acts like a memory stick
Long battery life
Delivered VERY quickely. Got this 3 days after the day of ordering
Light and comfy in the pocket, nice solid feel to the buttons and build
MP3 transfer speed is super fast, plus comes with a USB 1 converter cable for those on much older PCs.

Bad Points:
Drag and drop only. WMP is usable to sync your songs upon but this makes randomisation of ALL songs impossible. It only randomises the songs in the file it's playing.
Unintuitive menus, random is lumped in with repeat for some weird reason
Mode/track selector is rubbish. Half the time when u press it in to select a track/menu option it skips across to the next track/menu item
Very bad headphones supplied with it, use your own as stated above.

Cheap, but still not good value - avoid.

Pros - fairly cheap and small.

Cons - supplied headphones lasted 1 day; battery life is very poor (1 AAA lasted 3 x 20min tube journeys), probably since the device still drains power when off! No instructions for interface - not a major drawback, since it is moderately intuitive, but I still can't find 'shuffle' mode, if there is one. [Anyone out there care to advise?]

Summary - bought this as a cheap player for the gym, but wish I'd gone for a Sony B series or ipod shuffle instead. [Since purchasing, I note there are cheaper Archos and Aura devices anyway; suggest you try one of those instead of the Sumvision].

Good MP3(if you have half a brain cell)

Cheaply made but suprisingly resilent ive dropped mine numerous times with no damage, downloading music is fast and simple and with 4GB you should fit the best part of 1000 songs on the device. And i must disagree wit previous reviews the mp3 is very simple to use as it only has 1 button to navigate,However it has no defualt playlists so its best to organise your music into folders before moving into your mp3 other wise youll be scrolling trough 100's of songs manually. All in all cheap simple sturdy and reliable.

High capacity but let down by poor manual ( non exisient!)

For 14.99, this is probably the cheapeast 4G MP3 player around.Build quality is ok.but there is no instructions for operating the player. The manual which came in the box is for "nano" type, click wheel .I have a Sumvision 128MB years ago, thus still remember how to use it.Only bad thing about it is that you can only store all songs in one folder, and there is no shuffle or means to choose which songs you want to listen to.It's ok for me as I am using it in the car, connected via Aux to the car's CD player. and don't mind what song is coming out.
