Bought this TV for my mum (don't normally spend so much, but she loves tennis and had a tiny 19" rubbish LCD) and she loves it. I was worried she would think it was too big, but to be honest it's ok. For small to medium rooms it's ok, if your room is any bigger maybe think of a 42".
Colours are very neutral and look natural, not saturated or over-done on contrast. We just did the auto set-up of digital channels only. Picture quality and sharpness is excellent.
The Electronic Programme Guide is good too, ok for my 'techno-phobe' mum. Remote is well laid out too and not over complicated.
Only one thing i noticed - the stated composite inputs on the rear panel are actually component. Composite inputs are on the side panel.
Composite are yellow (vid), with red+white (stereo sound), Component is red/green/blue (vid) phono plugs (YPbPr) - also required are the audio (red+white) leads.
Everything else is as stated, bargain really. Mum likes the little tune it plays when putting it on standby from the remote. (little things)
You can allocate the extra inputs a name, so instead of EXTL or AV2, etc, you can name them DVD, VCR, etc.
Play delivered within 4 days via courier. Not too heavy, one person can manage.
Hope this helps. Thanks Play.
This has got to be the worse delivery service, The company Play.com use are a total waste of time, Took 2 weeks from them leaving a calling card to us getting the TV. If you order it make sure you stay in and wait for the delivery.
TV is ok though
Cheapest place to get it. The main use was for gaming on the PS3. Great look, the black surface does show up dirt and fingermarks like hell though, not a huge problem as your given a nice cloth in the box to wipe it down :) lol
Had to connect an ariel to get freeview, picture is pretty good with freeview. Obvisouly not as good as if your gonna hook up some Sky HD to it ect
When we finally connected the ps3 up to the tv in HD. my eyes melted. The difference was amazing, when i now go to a friends i cry, it just looks rubbish if its not in HD!
My main complaint is the control. It looked... nasty.... felt like crap.
When trying to navigate the menu's (which there are alot of, so you can easily customise all your settings) it was laggy and unresponsive, the menu's are easy to read, good layout and simple. Just that selecting what you want is slow and annoying.
Overall, Stylish, Cheap, Great picture, Great sound, Beautiful to look at when in HD, Easy to navigate, Horrible remote, Unresponsive Remote, Dust collected is easy to see.
I ordered this T.V on the 27th Oct and i recieved in on the 29th. I think this is quick considering i wait the same lenght of time for DVD's to be posted out. Cant wait to set it up in my new apartment.
This television performs fantastically, oozes quality and is an absolute bargain at 300 smackers.
I recently moved out and needed a cheap HD TV to accompany my newly acquired blu-ray player (Philips BDP3000). After much deliberation I decided to order this television because it seemed to pack a lot of features for an insanely low price.
The initial setup was a breeze thanks to the on-screen guide helping to setup its basic functions. The built-in Freeview is easy to setup, the programme guide is great to use and the picture quality is about as good as standard definition gets. The television speakers are great, easy to configure and deliver a decent rounded sound.
After connecting my blu-ray player via HDMI and popping in a newly purchased Planet Earth blu-ray disc I soon realised the true potential of this television. The visuals are stunning! This television produces an amazing range of colour and pin-point clarity that I have not seen with some 32inch HDTVs. The television and blu-ray player automatically synchronised into 1080 24p Real Movie mode which really did give a cinema-quality to the visuals.
The final test was my Xbox 360. I connected it via HDMI and selected the optimal option in the 360s visual setup menu. The screen flickered into 720p mode, the default contrast/colour/sharpness settings seemed to be fine. I used Final Fantasy XIII to test the televisions visual performance and once again I was taken back by just how impressive this television is.
The strangest thing about this television is just how gorgeous it looks when its off. I adore Samsungs aesthetic and this television is no exception, it really does add a sense of style to your living room.
Id say, for the price, you couldnt do any better!
