The Digital IXUS 100 IS delivers exceptional style in an ultra-slim form. Beautiful photos are made easy by a host of intelligent Canon technologies, and can be supplemented by stunning HD video.

Exceptionally slender
With its ultra-slim metallic form, the Digital IXUS 100 IS takes digital camera design to new heights of elegance. Its combination of supremely slender profile and high performance is achieved by a combination of Canon technologies, including two special glass-molded UA lenses. Choose from four colours: silver, black, red and gold.*

12.1 Megapixels
A resolution of 12.1 MP captures every scene in rich amounts of detail. Turn images into poster-size prints, or creatively crop images without losing the detail necessary for larger prints.

3.0x zoom
A 3.0x optical zoom lens gives you framing flexibility when composing shots. Canon's in-lens optical Image Stabilizer works to deliver blur-free results throughout the zoom range.

Scene Detection Technology for effortless ease
Smart Auto mode uses intelligent Scene Detection Technology to determine subject brightness, contrast, distance and overall hue. The camera then searches an incredible 18 possible modes, and selects the one which offers the perfect settings for the scene.

High speed processing
Canon's DIGIC 4 processor drives exceptional processing speeds, responsive operation, superb image quality and colour reproduction. Richly detailed, cleaner images, even at high ISO speeds, are the result of advanced Noise Reduction.

The Digital IXUS 100 IS combats blur with Motion Detection Technology. Activated in Smart Auto mode, this uses a range of technologies to ascertain movement of both camera and subject. The optimum ISO is then automatically set for any situation.

Face Detection Technology
A suite of Face Detection technologies detects faces in a shot and adjusts focus, exposure, flash settings and white balance - for optimal results with natural-looking skin tones. Blink Detection lets you avoid the disappointment of mistimed people shots. FaceSelf-Timer makes group photos and self-portraits easy, taking the shot when an extra face is detected in the frame.

2.5" LCD
Frame and review shots with a bright 2.5" PureColor LCD II. A wide viewing angle lets you easily share images with friends.

Canon's i-Contrast feature offers improved contrast and greater detail in tricky lighting conditions.

HD movies in stereo
Create smooth, high quality movies in high definition (1280x720, 30fps), then connect the optional HDMI cable for playback on HD widescreen TVs.

 Really Compact

One of the smallest camera available with higher Mega Pixel and awesome picture quality considering that it is a compact camera, NOT DSLR.

The camera is very nice as it is small and can be carried everywhere without noticing it's presence. It takes great pictures and shoot video in quite high quality as well with sound. That a bonus. It also has various shooting options to be creative while taking photos. The battery life is good. I bought it for my sister on offer from Play.com, about £40.00 less than normal Retail Price and its worth that price.

The only problem someone can face is operating those small buttons if someone has very thick fingers.

otherthan that, It is a very good really compact camera.

 small & sturdy

a great compliment to my canon 50d & L lenses. The best camera is the one you have with you and when i cant be bothered lugging 3k of kit around i take this!
not great for pub/club nights outs - close up photos of people with flash tend to be blown out, but outside its amazing! 99 is a bargain! i have even sold images to agencies taken on this camera!

I've had this camera for several months now and it is definitly the best i've owned. I've only used it for amateur pictures of just friends, landscapes etc and the quality has been brilliant. Very sharp and little blur. BUT. And this is a big but, to get a decent picture with this camera you have to hold down the button slightly first before you completly depress it so it can properly focus. I can only imagine that is the reason behind Deafndumb's poor review, i made the same mistake and many other people will too, this also has the drawback of not being very good for snapshots when you are moving around a lot (eg if your dancing in a club) this causes the camera to incorrectly focus and without a flash you won't get much of a picture. But that aside, this is a brilliant camera, great picture and video quality, long battery life and has lots of nice features (the colour filter is especially nice for easy artsy photo's). I would recommend to anyone.
Also this camera is one of the few models that you can quite easily hack, this means you can change pretty much every aspect of the picture (i've no idea what half the settings are but anyone who knows their photography should find it fun!).

Surprisingly Good Video - Poor Poor Photos

I've had this very small and neat camera for over a year now. The videos it takes are good but the photos are mediocre at best. It's hopeless for taking pictures of children, with the slightest movement from them resulting in a useless blurred image. If you have static kids, perhaps this is the camera for you - otherwise save your money.

Thanks for the somewhat barbed "review" suggesting that my photography skills are the problem. I don't claim to be an expert, but no expert would buy a camera such as this anyway.

It remains a fact that when I compare a typical photo from this camera, taken on Auto setting, with a similar photo taken on a much older Powershot A700, it rarely compares well.

No amount of sniping changes that.

 fantastic camera

This camera is one of the best point and shooters available, just check any review site, it'll score just below the very best point and shoot cameras which are in the region of double the price of this camera.

I would take negative comments remembering that despite brilliant hardware, not everyone knows how to take a photo...

For 99 this is a bargain, buy two.
