Sony RDR-HXD790 120GB HDD / Hard Disk DVD Recorder With Freeview (Black)

Be careful if buying this as you CANNOT record one channel while watching another as it does not have a twin tuner.
What it does have is one digital tuner & one analog tuner which means you can record a freeview programme while watching analog (& vice versa) but you cannot record a freeview channel & watch another at the same time although you can watch a recorded programme on the hard drive while recording another.
Very comnplicated to set up & as yet I have not managed o get the G-link control for Sky channels working.
The quailty of the recorded material is very good though.

Regarding the previous post - you only need TWO inbuilt tuners if your tv set does NOT have freeview or you do NOT have a freeview box.
This Sony unit has ONE inbuilt tuner so therefore you connect it up to your freeview tv or box as you would your old vcr (remember those). This then enables you to watch one freeview programme whilst recording another freeview programme...Simple.
The unit itself is of the usual high Sony standard and you will not be disappointed with your buy.

This machine is hateful to use ,it sometimes will sometimes won't record preset programs ,the epg is useless the search function is ok if you know when a program is on and which channel ,then it might or might not let you record it.
Errors like cannot do this now , dosen't say why.
I will never buy Sony again
