The pocket-size DJ system
Pacemaker is a revolutionizing portable music player equipped with an extensive range of professional audio manipulation features enabling limitless mixing between two independent channels. Pacemaker device lets you
Mix, play and perform - at home, work and play; Prepare and preview your sets on the go; Bring your entire music library in your pocket

The Pacemaker comes with the Pacemaker Editor software. This is PC and Mac compatible. You use the Editor to upload tracks to the Pacemaker. You can also create mixes just using the Editor. All mixes created on any of the two are transferable to the other, and vice versa, meaning that you can bring any mix anywhere, and continue mixing, adjusting and refining as you like. The final step is then to upload your mix to the Pacemaker.net web community, and let the rest of the world be inspired by your mixes and your taste in music - and, of course, find inspiration yourself. The creative tools for the Editor are fully compatible with those of Pacemaker Device.
Further features include:
2 Separate Channels
You can choose a track to play on each individual channel, playing simultaneously and mixing between the two.
Cross Fader
A touch cross fader allows you to set the blend between the channels and mix from one to the other. The same cross fader can be used to set the blend and cue up tracks in your headphones.
Tempo Control
You can speed up or slow down the track by 100%
Touch Pad
The touch pad allows you to bend the pitch; momentarily speeding up or slowing down the track. It is also where you control the Pacemaker effects and navigate the library and menus.
Cue
Pacemaker has an auto-cue function which will start the track playing on the first beat. You can also set a cue point anywhere within the track and the track will then play from that point when started.
Auto Beatmatch
This will sync the track on the opposing channel to the one already playing. It will start the track playing on the main beat leaving you to use the cross fader to mix between the two. This allows anyone to mix tracks like a DJ.
Timestretch
You can speed up or slow down the track while keeping the track key constant. This is useful when mixing tracks of different tempos.
Key
Transpose the track key plus or minus 12 semi tones (1 octave) enabling you to avoid key clashes when mixing between tracks
Beat Graph
This is a visual representation of the mix. Use the touch pad to speed up or slow down the track and match the bars to ensure that your mix is in time.
EQ
A traditional EQ set up that allows you to adjust Bass, Mid and Treble frequencies from -26 to +6 DB. EQ is accessed via the touch pad. EQ can also be adjusted for the master line out and the headphones.
Gain
This allows you to adjust the pre-amplification volume of the track from -26 to +6 DB.
Volume
Pacemaker has volume control for both headphones and line out
Audio Sound Effects
These are a range of filters accessed via the touch pad that allow you to change the sound of the track being played in various ways. The effects are; hi-cut / lo-cut filter, crush and wah.
Audo Beat Effects
These are a range of effects that allow you to change the beats and timing of the track being played in various ways. The effects are; roll, echo, reverb and delay.

For all you DJ's out there who love to mix and remix music, this is thee gadget for you. I had a go on it at the gadget show in the N.E.C and i have never played on anything so high-tech and as cool as this. It lets you do EVERYTHING a top end mixing deck lets you do, but about 50x smaller ! It really is one of the best gadget's ive ever held in my hands, and im a big lover of gadgets ! I would pre-order one with nothing to stop me, you will seriously love it.
I WAS A LITTLE CONCERNED AT PAYING OVER £300 FOR SOMEHTING I HAD NEVER USED, OR HAD EVER TOUCHED OR SEEN IN REAL LIFE OTHER THAN IN MAGAZINES / WEBSITES.
EVERY WEBSITE IS CHARGING 370 FOR THIS KIT AT 60 GB, I PAID 310 AT PLAY & GOT FREE £25 SONY HEADPHONES, THEY ARE NOT DOING THE HEADPHONES NOW, BUT THE PRICE IS EVEN LOWER NOW !!!! 300.
I LIKE TO BUY ALL MY DJ EQUIPMENT FROM SPEACLIST DJ STORES LIKE, HTFR, WESTEND DJ, DJSUPRESTORE, ETC. ALL OF THESE STORES HAVE PRICE PROMISE ON THERE PRODUCTS, STATING THEY'LL BEAT ANY NET PRICE, HOWEVER NO ONE WOULD MATCH THE PLAY.COM PRICE!
SO ENOUGH WITTER & ON TO THE KIT -
ONCE IT IS UP & RUNNING IT IS AN AMAZING TOY, GREAT TO USE ON THE TRAIN / LONG CAR JOURNEY, CAN EVEN PLUG IT IN 2 THE MP3 PORT IN THE CAR DO LIVE MIXES THROUGH THE CAR RADIO!
IT WOULD BE GREAT FOR A HOUSE PARTY & IF YOUVE GOT EXTRA CASH YOU CAN BUY KIT THAT'LL MAKE IT WIRELESS SO YOU DO A GIG IN A CLUB / PUB / PARTY & JUST WONDER ROUND WHILST IN THE MIX.
IT IS VERY EASY TO USE, HOWEVER A LOT OF BUTTONS HAVE MUTLI FUNCTIONS LEAVING YOU OPEN TO PRESS THE WRONG BUTTON STOPPING THE MIX OR CUTTING THE MUSIC OUT INSTEAD OF CHANGING THE HEADPHONE CHANEL, BUT PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT.
I AM A BEDROOM DJ WITH PIONNER CDJ1000 & PIONEER DJM400 MIXER, I CAN PLUG THE PACEMAKER IN TO THE MIXER & MIX THE DEX WITH THE PACE MAKER!
IF YOU ARE NEW TO DJING OR HAVE NEVER DJ'D THERE IS A VERY CHEEKY DISPLAY THAT'LL SHOW YOU THE BEATS & WHERE YOU NEED TO GO GET THEM IN SYNC.
THE BPM IS PRETTY ACCURATE, SOME TUNES ARE COMPLETELY WRONG, HOWEVER I AM TALKING ABOUT 0.5% - 1%.
DOWNSIDE - SOFTWARE IS APPALING, ITS EVEN WORSE THAN MY SPELLING. THE INSTRUCTIONS ARE WORSE THAN POOR (INSTRUCTIONS HAVE TO BE DOWNLOADED AS A PDF FILE) & HELP / SUPPORT WEBSITE ISNT THE BEST. I HAVE NO DOUBT YOU WILL SPEND A FULL DAY MESSING ABOUT DOWNLOADING THE SOFTWARE THEN HAVING TO FIDDLE WITH IT & SPENDING HOURS ON THE SUPPORT WEDSITE TRYING TO FIND OUT HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEMS. I WAS SURE I HAD BEEN SENT A BROKEN PACEMAKER EVEN AFTER FIDDLING FOR 6 OR 7 HOURS & I WOULD CONSIDER MYSELF GOOD WITH TECHNOLOGY (BUT CRAP AT SPELLING).
UNLIKE ITS BIGGER MORE EXPENSIVE BROTHER, THE 120GB YOU WONT GET A PLUG IN CHARGER YOULL HAVE TO CHRAGE VIA THE P.C'S USB2 OR BUY A CHRAGER, YOU DONT GET A NECK CORD, HOWEVER AT £70-£100 MORE DONT BOTHER. I HAVE THOUSONDS & THOUSANDS OF TUNES IN FULL 320KBPS & I HAVNT TOUCHED THE SIDES OF THE 60GB.
GREAT TOY, WONT TAKE OVER MY DEX, BUT I CAN PLAY ANYWHERE I LIKE & HAVE THE OPTION TO PLAY IT TO MYSELF SO THE WIFE & KIDS & NEIGHBOURS CANT COMPLAIN ABOUT THE MUSIC.
I got one of these for Christmas from my wife and can't put it down. I have always loved my music and like to mix a little but I'm no superstar DJ or anything, far from it. I also have a Numark iDJ2 which I have had for just over 2 years. This is my only other mixing equipment I use just doing a bit of bedroom DJing and the odd party. The Pacemaker for me blows it away it fits in the palm of your hand and you can adjust everything such as pitch, EQ levels, gain etc as with most mixers. It even has Effects which are something the iDJ2 does not have and you can also use an auto beatmatch function which helps if your new to mixing. I would definately recommend this product and say that although it may seem a bit on the expensive side for something that looks like just an mp3 player it is very good for the money. It feels very well made with an almost industrial/ military look, feel and finish due to it's coating. By this I mean it feels right in your hand, tough and not like you can expect it to fall apart after a bit of use like some products can. At the same time its not so bulky that you can't hold it comfortably. My hands are not the largest but I can wrap my fingers around it well enough to operate it quite easily. It is a little bit fiddly at first getting used to the side switch to switch between the alternative uses on the interface but its simple enough and in around 30 minutes you will be used to it. My only issue is due to the cross fader being touch sensitive I kind of miss that little bit of feel/resistance you have on a normal mixer but that's just me. It works really well once used to it and produces really satisfying mixes that you would be happy to play anywhere. This is great and not only can you save your mixes to use again but using its software you can publish them online or save them on your PC. If you are considering one I can honestly say I don't think you will be dissapointed. Now go get one!
It's hard to believe that the Pacemaker can do everything that they claim but after half an hour I was mixing records like a pro. All the effects and filters are amazing and once you've figured out how to do loops, this little beauty just gets better and better. I've been turning up at parties with mine in my pocket, plugging in and rocking it. I can't believe they can make something this good for under £300. 5 stars from me!!!
I was, at first, a little sceptical about spending £300+ on something which has hundreds of good reviews but, also something that i hadn't tried first.
But I can honestly say, i wasn't disappointed!
I'm by no means a DJ and had done nothing more than crossfade a few songs on the PC - but yet after a few hours of playing around i was hooked. Once you've successfully brought in a new song, you can't stop - you immediately have to start thinking of the next song and how you're going to bring it in. Each new song is a challenge. The effects are great and the feel of the unit is really solid.
As with all the other reviews i have to say that this won't replace proffesional DJ equipment, but it is a fantastic bit of kit and so easy and addictive to learn with.
One downside i would say is that the software isn't the greatest but it is the only way to get songs on to the device, so it serves its purpose. Also - make sure your ID3 tags are correct, as you might have trouble finding the correct songs if they're not...
Another point worth noting is that this 60GB model only comes with a USB cable and nothing else, so if you don't already have one, you will need to buy a 3.5mm cable or phono cable to go with it.
Finally, I have to express my annoyance, at Play.com for knocking £40 off the pre-order price, the day after i'd ordered it! Very Sly!
Anyway, all in all, if you can afford it, get it - you won't be disappointed - it's a fantastic bit of kit.
