Alien: Classic 18 Inch Figure

Now this is really a great figure . When he arrives there's some part assembly required , i.e. the legs from below the knee and the dorsal fin / back pipes must be attached . A certain amount of force must be applied to get these pieces fully inserted , but once they are in , they are firmly anchored and won't fall off again.
Once i had him fully assembled , his size and scale really impressed me. He's based on the 18" scale figure format , but 18" equates to a human adult scale figure , and of course the xenomorph stands at 7-8 feet tall in life-size proportions , so what we have here is actually a 22" tall figure when stood fully upright. I have mine posed in a semi-crouching attack stance and he still stands at 19" high. The articulation is pretty decent too , the elbows , knees , head and ankles are all moveable , and they lock firmly into held positions , so the big fella has no trouble standing unassisted. The tail has a bendable wire core and is also fully poseable.
He really is a solid and weighty feeling figure also , and would not look out of place displayed alongside more valuable higher-end collectables.
The paintwork and sculpting are both excellent , and for a figure of this price you just can't get any better in my opinion.

As a massive fan of the whole Alien, Predator, AVP franchise, and a collector of film memorabilia, I thought that it was about time that I treated myself to one of these beauties.
Firstly, as already previously described by others, some of the figure parts are self assembly. When the box arrives, some of the parts, such as the back fins are laced to the box. Remove all of the parts, and I laid the parts out to ensure the correct fitting. The leg fittings are pretty good and tight - so that they won't fall out. The back fins are individually notched for correct placement. There is ample manipulation once all fitted, for whatever position you want to put the Alien in. I would have posted photographs, however, I will take a few of the finished article and can be sent on application if you want to see how it looks.

Overall a great figure. NECA have done us proud for this Figure. If you are a fan at all, I would have no hesitation in recommending this for your collection.

For figure collectors or Alien fans in general, this truly is a must have item. This stand out figure is an instant attention grabber and will easily stand out as the centrepiece of any collection.

The attention to detail is extremely well done and is pretty much an exact replica of what you see in the movie, albeit not on a life size scale but still a large piece at 22" tall when standing fully up, although it looks better in a crouching pose at 18" tall. The tail is also about the length of the entire figure and fully bendable to a postion of your choosing.

It will require some self assembly and I found the legs a bit difficult to fit in, but once it is fully assembled you will see for yourself that this is a worthwhile item, and it is my personal favourite in my collection.

Very difficult to find this cheaper anywhere else so Play.com is probably your best option, since it includes free delivery unlike other sites.

To start with let me tell you this is a big figure, a good few inches bigger than it says, and the detale as you would expect from neca is very good. However the only problem I have with this figure (and this is why it got 4 stars not 5) is that the legs are so hard to attatch. So much so that I was affraid that I was going to break it. In the end to be on the safe side I trimmed a little off the male connections, but this meant that they were a little loose. So to make it all secure I found the perfect position for the legs so it stood just right and then super glued the leg and foot joints in place. I can here the gasps of horror from some of you and the cries of sacrilage, and yes I even took it out of the box ! But lets face it you are not going to be playing with these things, but putting them on display to look at and admire. So in the end mine looks great and wont fall over. So if you want one either get a rubber hammer or a tube of super glue !
