This superb action-packed 61cm by 93cm poster features an image I first saw on the cover of the popular PC RTS game, STAR WARS EMPIRE AT WAR.
The bottom half features the battle of Hoth, as seen in the 1980 film THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, and a decisive victory for the Imperial forces. As Rebel troops desperately attempt to defend their Ion Cannon and Shield Generator, Imperial soldiers advance with their dreaded All Terrain Armoured Transports and Scout Walkers.
Meanwhile the top portion has space scenes featuring the iconic Death Star battle station and shows fleets of Star Destroyers and TIE fighters battling Rebel X-Wing fighters.
An uncommon feature of this illustration is the distinct lack of established STAR WARS characters as this one has only Luke Skywalker and R2-D2 in their X-Wing. While some fans may undoubtedly find this a startling oversight, I believe the poster works best as a homage to the common soldiers and pilots on the battlefield.
The poster is highly detailed and printed on nice quality paper. It would perhaps look best framed and makes a nice addition to any STAR WARS collection!
